BFNation is reporting that EA will be taking steps against groups renting Ranked servers for the sole purpose of 'padding' their stats, and that such behaviour will not be tolerated. Stats will be stripped from usrs, but also their clan members if they seem to have anomalous stats. Hosting partners will be asked to move the clan to a non-ranked server and not be allowed to lease another Ranked Server from said partner. If they switch to another hosting partner the server's IP itself will get blacklisted from the validated list.

While the product listing does not have any specific details, or even a product name apart from Battlefield 2 Addon 2, it does however list the new addon as scheduled for March 2006. Earlier today people reported that certain individuals managed to hack into EA's Battlefield 2 stats server and as a result unlocked all weapons for friends & family. EA responded "All of the changes made will be rolled back in the next couple hours. Users may have to rechoose any unlocks they would have legitimately made in the last day or so as a result of the roll-back, but no stats should be lost."

EA revealed today that DICE is pluggin away at yet another patch for Battlefield 2, and it is expected to be released late August. Currently there are about 140 fixes and improvements for the next patch, but EA wants to make sure the previous patch snafu doesnt occur again and will make sure its goes through vigorous testing before it goes out. EA has released the highly anticipated first patch for DICE's Battlefield 2. This patch brings your retail game to v1.02 (eventhough it still says v1.01) and addresses the previous memory leak, an issue that caused the multiplayer browser to become unresponsive, some game controls were not available to be rebound within the Options menu, fixed a crash with rebinding LMB, AI becoming unresponsive, and a few graphical tweaks.
