by Rainier on July 9, 2005 @ 9:34 p.m. PDT | Filed under News

"Since the BF2 v1.01 update is causing memory leakage on some systems, we recommend that you reinstall the game and NOT the v1.01 update released earlier this week. Reinstalling Battlefield 2 will not affect your in-game medals or ranked server statistics. EA and DICE are committed to getting a fix for v1.01 as soon as we possibly can and will continue to keep you informed through this web space in the coming days. NOTE: If you installed and are running the newer server files (Win and Linux versions) made available earlier this week, please revert those as well, those files had the same issues with memory leaks as did the v1.01 update."

EA has released the dedicated linux server for the recent demo for DICE's FPS sequel Battlefield 2. We reported earlier about EA banned modded servers from the master server list, and EA has finally issued a statement that this is indeed the case. EA Banning Modded 'Battlefield 2' Servers?

by Rainier on June 14, 2005 @ 10:16 a.m. PDT | Filed under News

There is quite a stir going on in the Battlefield 2 community as many server admins have started raising questions about their servers no longer showing up in the in-game master server list. Curiously enough all the missing servers were running minor mods to unlock hidden weapons and remove the ridiculously short time limit. At least 80 servers have been removed without any prior notice or explanation from EA, and there has been no official comment from the EA community moderators either. A possible workaround is changing the server ip or the name, especially if it includes mod hints such as "no time limit" etc.
