Sammy Studios Inc. today announced that it has expanded its U.S.-based video game development operations. The company unveiled a team based in Los Angeles that is currently working on its second internally developed title, a flight combat game for home consoles, along with plans to launch a state-of-the-art studio located in L.A.'s San Fernando Valley before the end of Q2 2003. Sammy Studios' founding team has been working on the company's first-ever U.S.-developed title, a console-based first person shooter, since launching its San Diego studio last year. Sammy Studios also revealed that it will begin development on two additional titles and will be looking at applicants for all projects in both studios at the Game Developers' Conference (GDC) in San Jose, California, on March 5th - 8th, 2003.

Rick comes to Sammy Studios after having served financial management positions in high-tech and interactive entertainment at such companies as Mattel Inc., eParties.com, and most recently TheBrain Technologies Corporation.

Clinton comes to the company from Rockstar San Diego, the developer formerly known as Angel Studios, Inc., where he served as director/lead programmer. Croteam's web site has been updated with the announcement that the Xbox port of Serious Sam has gone gold. The wait is now over. At least for the US version. The US Xbox version of Serious Sam is officially approved and it is going into gold mastering. European version still needs to go over the approval.

PC.IGN.COM reports that Serious Sam 3, is apparently far into development and scheduled for release in 2003. Here is a clip:
The new game, Serious Sam 2, ironically now possibly referred to either factually or mistakenly by reps as Serious Sam 3, is apparently far into development and scheduled to hit in 2003, completely compatible with the Xbox's own Live multiplayer setup. Even fewer details are known of the PC version, but assumedly it is in concurrent development, since musings of that one have been around since well before the Second Encounter even hit.

Croteam has updated their website with some more details on the upcoming Xbox version of their smash title Serious Sam. Turns out that it will NOt be a mere conversion/port from the PC game but a WHOLE lot more than that. Most interesting is the fact that they will incorporate the 2 Serious Sam PC games into 1 Xbox version and the multiplayer will be something to look out for as well .. read more for details ... (
