SCi/Eidos' Financial Result Reveals Sequel and New Titles

SCi has released its quarterly results, reflecting an increase in revenue (from $47.9 to $146.3 million) and a 10% decrease in operational loss. More importantly CEO Jane Cavanagh confirmed a Battlestations: Midway sequel is in development, and no less than 11 other new titles are scheduled, such as Kane & Lynch, Highlander, Crossfire: Search and Destroy, and its first casual titles Jewel Quest, Diner Dash, and Cubis 2. SCi/Eidos decided to delay its PS3 titles for Sony's next-gen platform due to its limited install base.

Eidos/SCi's Strong Financial Result Reveals New Titles

As with Ubisoft yesterday, SCi/Eidos' first half of its fiscal year was quite positive with revenue topping £70 million (40% increase) mainly due to strong sales of action game Just Cause, and super hero title Justice League Heroes, while the original Lego Star Wars has sold 5.4 million copies across all platforms since its April 2005 release. SCi plans to release 4 Wii titles (Bionicle Heroes, for one), further next-gen installments for Tomb Raider, Hitman, Championship Manager, and confirmed that Just Cause 2 is in development.

Previously announced a few weeks ago, it was revealed today that Eidos has signed 300: March to Glory for distribution in North America and Europe. In the game, players take on the role of King Leonidas, who leads the brave 300 Spartans against Xerxes and his massive Persian army.

Zero Tolerance For Eidos' Copyright Infringement

Recently Eidos announced its newest title Zero Tolerance : City Under Fire, which was previously known as Roll Call. As it turns out that name change wasn't a very good idea as back in 1994 there was a Megadrive game with that same name, from developer Technopop. Somebody forgot to do their homework and check with the registration, resulting in Eidos getting sued for Copyright Infringement in North America and will have to explain its case before the U.S. Patent Office. Whether this legal action will have an impact on the title's release date is not known, no Eidos representative could be reached for comment.

Capcom's CEO Joins SCi To Head Up Freshly Acquired Eidos

SCi said that of May 13, it had received valid acceptances in respect of a total of 110.8 mln shares, representing approximately 78.02 pct of the issued share capital of Eidos. The offer will remain open for acceptance by Eidos shareholders until further notice. Further to the announcement Eidos stated that the entire Board of Eidos has resigned from office with effect from 17 May 2005.
