With GamesCom officially opening its doors tomorrow in Germany, Sony kicked off the show with its press briefing, where it announced a new video on demand service, PlayStation Network voucher cards, all-new downloadable mini titles for the PSP, a new Digital Reader/Comics feature for the PSP/PS3, and of course confirming the much-rumored PS3 Slim and price drop.

Sony is preparing to release a new v3.0 PS3 firmware update, which incorporates cosmetic changes that improve navigation on your PS3, changes to the design, look and feel of the XMB, as well as added network improvements and personalization options to help enhance your PS3 experience.

Set within a near-fictional, historical WWII setting, players take on the role of the OSA agent BJ Blazkowicz as they are thrust into the unknown and unexpected to battle against combat troops, otherworldly forces, and the dark science created by a supernatural Nazi force hell-bent on world domination.

Hinted at a few weeks ago, EA Sports Active: More Workouts provides new challenge and variety with over 35 new exercises to create unlimited combinations of customizable exercise routines that target the upper and lower body, as well as cardio.

The past few months, it has been raining clues, hints and leaks pointing at Sony prepping a PS3 "slim" SKU, as well as a price drop to boost sales, while Sony has been denying the product's existence. Many people expected a formal announcement to be made at GamesCom, but it seems K-Mart and Sears did not feel like waiting, as both have listings for a 120GB PS3 slim model at $299.
