Fueled by the Halo 3 effect, Xbox 360 sales experienced a 50% increase in Sept., selling more than 528k units, compared to 501k for Wii, 496k for NDS, 285k for PSP, 215k for PS2 and 119k for PS3. Software sales amassed a total of $1.3B, a 74% increase compared to Sept. 2006, no doubt due to the 3.3 million copies of Halo 3 in circulation.

TimesOnline reveals that the Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), the surveillance arm of the intelligence services doing signal intelligence and information assurance, is currently looking into ways to recruit gamers. SCEA has released several playable demos for upcoming games on the PlayStation Network, a whopping 1.26 GB demo for Folklore and 1GB demo for THQ's Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights. If those are not to your liking, there are also various game trailers (Burnout Paradise, DMC4, Turok and Uncharted) as well as clips for upcoming Blu-ray movies.

Microsoft and BioWare announced the lineup of voice-over actors for its sci-fi action/RPG Mass Effect.
