'Monster Hunter: World' (ALL) Iceborne Expansion Gets PC Date, Features, PC Specs - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on Oct. 25, 2019 @ 8:09 a.m. PDT

Monster Hunter: World sees players take on the role of a hunter who completes various quests to hunt and slay monsters within a living and breathing ecosystem full of predators ... and prey.

Monster Hunter: World introduces a living, breathing ecosystem in which players take on the role of a hunter that seeks and slays ferocious beasts in heart-pounding battles that unfold across the vast ever-changing terrain. Venture on quests alone or with up to three hunters in a newly designed online drop-in multiplayer system which allows cross-region cooperative play between Japan and the west, uniting the player base for the first time ever.

Retaining the series’ skill based progression and robust crafting system, players gear up to venture on quests to seek and slay monsters, progressively improving their skills to become the ultimate hunter. Loot collected from fallen foes can be used to create new equipment and armor upgrades styled after the monsters they’ve slain, allowing hunters to survive the elements and defeat the tougher opponents that await them.

Monster Hunter: World delivers a seamless gameplay experience allowing players to move freely across map areas that comprise the living ecosystems and dynamically transition from day to night. The landscape and its diverse inhabitants play a critical 6role in each quest as players strategically use the surrounding environment including terrain, vegetation and wildlife to their advantage in battle or become hindered by the hazards they present. Hunters must use their cunning and abilities to track and maneuver their targets throughout the intense, evolving battles.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne transports PC players to the frozen lands of Hoarfrost Reach on January 9th, 2020.

The PC version of Iceborne will include features such as a high resolution texture pack, customizable graphical settings, and DirectX 12 support. Additionally, mouse-and-keyboard controls have been revamped across the board to better suit the new actions and abilities on PC.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne whisks players off to explore the newly discovered Hoarfrost Reach, a snow-covered locale that progressively expands with the story and is home to the mysterious new Elder Dragon, Velkhana. To help hunters on their journey, new gameplay features have been added including the new Clutch Claw mechanic and updates to all 14 weapon types that will provide additional combat options. Other new “series first” gameplay features include a two-player balanced difficulty scale, the ability to ride small monsters to traverse maps and a Hunter Helper player incentive to encourage more experienced hunters to help Low and High Rank players progress through the game. The expansion also introduces hunters to a new higher difficulty rank, called Master Rank. Hunters must have completed the main story in Monster Hunter: World through Hunter Rank 16 in order to access Master Rank and all the new Icebornestory and quests.

As with previous series iterations, Iceborne will include robust free post-launch support with the first title update for PC planned for early February. This will include the addition of fan-favorite Rajang, the Raccoon City collaboration with popular survival horror icons Leon, Claire and Tyrant, Your Room updates and more. March will continue with a second title update featuring a new monster for PC. Title updates for PC are planned to converge with the console schedule for release at the same time in the future and more details will be shared at a later time.

Several pre-order options are now available for new and returning PC players, with an exclusive Yukumo Series layered armor set bonus offered for those who pre-order early. For existing owners, the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne expansion is available as digital DLC for MSRP $39.99 / €39.99. A Digital Deluxe version including both the expansion and a Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Deluxe Kit DLC of cosmetic items is MSRP $49.99 / €49.99.
