Secret endings have become something of a staple in the mainline Far Cry games.
In Far Cry 4, you could complete a playthrough in 10-15 minutes simply by following instructions and waiting for Pagan Min to return. In Far Cry 5, you could end the game even quicker if you refused to place Joseph Seed in handcuffs.
Far Cry 6 doesn’t allow you to quickly finish the game right at the start, but it does continue the tradition with a secret ending that allows you to finish after completing the introductory section.
[SPOILER WARNING]
Spoilers for Far Cry 6 follow. Don’t continue reading if you don’t want to know what happens.
[SPOILER WARNING]
In order to get the secret ending, you first need to complete the introductory sequence of missions on the starting island, Isla Santuario. After you finish the mission “Libertad Rises” and destroy Anton Castillo’s blockade, a short cinematic plays with Dani and Clara talking about the future.
After the story cinematics finish, Dani, Clara, and Juan are on the dock outside Libertad HQ in the Zamok Archipiélago. Clara thanks Dani for helping Libertad and offers her a boat. The boat is rickety, but seaworthy, and it offers you a choice.
You can ignore the boat, head into Libertad HQ, officially join Libertad, and continue the main story.
Or, you can hop in the boat, and head northwest, out towards the open sea.
If you choose the latter, Dani successfully makes it out of Yara and to Florida.
A story cinematic plays, showing Dani relaxing on the beach in Miami, while the radio provides updates on current events in Yara, and the world. Cut to black and roll credits.
If you opt for the secret ending, you unlock the “Hidden In Plain Sight” achievement. The game also auto-saves at the dock, so you don’t have to worry about repeating missions. Once you’re back at the Far Cry 6 title screen, just continue your game and you’ll start out back on the dock outside Libertad HQ. After musing about the Yanquis for a second, you can head into Libertad HQ and continue the story.
Far Cry 6 will release for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Stadia and PC (Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Store, and UPLAY+) on October 7, 2021.
