Fire up Star-Lord's jet boots for a wild ride across the cosmos in this fresh take on Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. With the unpredictable Guardians at your side, blast your way from one explosive situation to another, with both original and well-known Marvel characters caught in a struggle for the fate of the universe. You got this. Probably.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is created by the seasoned Eidos-Montréal team, working closely with Marvel Entertainment to provide an original and authentic experience inspired by over 50 years of Guardians of the Galaxy lore. Influenced by the comics, this spin on the Guardians of the Galaxy takes players on a riotous journey across the stars as Peter Quill and the Guardians unintentionally become the galaxy's first and last line of defense.

In the game's universe, Star-Lord started the Guardians to sell their services as heroes-for-hire, and convinced Gamora, Drax, Rocket and Groot to join him along the way. The promise of adventure and profit was exactly what they were looking for. They even have a business card to prove it!!

Eidos-Montréal, Adidas, and Marvel unveiled a first-look at the upcoming Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy footwear collaboration.

“Early in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy development the Eidos-Montréal team had a wonderful idea to incorporate a vintage 1980s adidas silhouette – the Forum 84 Hi – into the character design for young Peter Quill. So, we started planning with Disney and talking with adidas,” Eric Monacelli, Senior Director of Production and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Project Lead for Marvel Games, explained.

“The designers at adidas were greatly inspired by the unique look and feel of the game and the original, specific Eidos-Montréal take on the now classic Guardians team. It motivated us to work collaboratively to build what was going to be one sneaker into an entire set, communicating two important core tenets of our Guardians – family and team – authentically via an extraordinary collection of six sneakers.”

Set to launch in first half of 2022, the collection will feature six unique shoes inspired by the Guardians’ distinct looks and personalities, as explained by James Liu, Senior Designer, Footwear, Exclusives - adidas:

• Star-Lord - Forum Hi 84 and Forum Mid
  • “Star-Lord has an old-school charm and is an expert in galactic combat and battle techniques; similarly, the Forum mid has an undeniable retro appeal and is a proven contender in its own area of expertise.”
• Gamora - ZX 2K Boost 2.0
  • “Gamora is known across the universe as being a warrior with unmatched strength, speed and skill – and also for her lineage to the MCU game-changer Thanos. The ZX 2K Boost, the most recent silhouette to bear the iconic ZX moniker, is sleek and sharp like Gamora’s blades and takes colour and material references from her armour and appearance.”
• Drax - Ozelia
  • “Drax is fierce and headstrong, with superhuman strength and a formidable human-mutate physique. The Ozelia, is built like a classic sneaker but features amplified characteristics like a maximal midsole and moulded panels and lines that draw similar visuals to Drax’s brutish form.”
• Groot - NMD R1
  • “To capture the essence of the plant-life superbeing that is Groot, we started with the rugged trail version of the modern classic NMD R1. Unique to the style is a lugged outsole which helps to naturally grip the floor, and the mud-guard that runs along the bottom of the shoe helps protect the foot. Adding to this, we used a 2-tone knit in shades of brown as a nod to Groot’s roots for the upper, and an embroidered detail featuring ‘I AM GROOT’ in an alien language featured in the game.”
• Rocket - ZX 1K Boost
  • “Rocket Racoon is a weapons specialist, elite marksman, and master tactician, who takes on amplified abilities from its racoon counterparts. We started with the ZX 1K Boost silhouette as a base – it’s a modern interpretation of a familiar style, using the latest technology for optimal performance. We added technical features like speed lacing, and high-vis reflective elements inspired by Rocket Racoon’s weaponry.”

“A key starting point for the design of each sneaker was the unique visual cues from each of the characters – whether it’s the stitching details on Star-Lord’s leather jacket, Groot’s earthy colour palette, or Drax’s unmistakable tattoos,” added Liu. “From there, we wanted to inlay various design discovery elements that helped further bring the story of each character to life. Bringing it all together across the collection are unique signifiers for this original take on Guardians of the Galaxy as a Super Hero team – with matching sockliners, hang tags, labels, and packaging.”

At the beginning of the game, they trigger a chain reaction of catastrophic events, which will eventually put the fate of the universe at stake. Obviously, preventing intergalactic annihilation was never part of the plan. But they (and you) got this. Probably.

Master Star-Lord's dynamic combat style to obliterate foes with his Element Blasters and call on the abilities of each Guardian to defeat a variety of interplanetary enemies. Also, as self-proclaimed leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy, players engage in select player-choice driven dialogue and interactions between Quill and the Guardians that further strengthens the bonds within this dysfunctional family.

With Rocket, Groot, Gamora and Drax always around you, you can expect a lot of laughs and touching moments - our writing team had tons of fun. But in true Guardians spirit, we also wanted to capture what it’s like for a ragtag group of misfits to become family. Making those personalities collide, fight and come together… there’s going to be some real drama as well.

But even when the odds are stacked against them, the Guardians never back down.

Finally, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy wouldn't be complete without a killer soundtrack to rock out to while soaring through space in the Milano. There's Iron Maiden, KISS, New Kids On The Block, Rick Astley and more. But it doesn’t stop there and Square Enix/Eidos-Montréal will have more to say about the music in our game soon! The game is jam-packed with classic 1980s hits and kicking original tracks.
