Skull And Bones will invite players to chart their own destiny and rise from an outcast to becoming a pirate kingpin. To do so, they will need to build their Infamy through thrilling naval combat and rewarding expeditions in a treacherous world. 

Inspired by the legendary tales around piracy, players will get to experience the authentic pirate life. From accepting contracts, gathering resources, to navigating important trade routes and attacking wealthy merchant ships, each decision will influence their journey, with varying levels of risk and reward. As they grow their Infamy, players will be able to fully craft and customize their naval fleet and unlock a variety of new items throughout the game. 

The game is inspired by one of the deadliest periods in history – the end of the 17th century. Considered to be the second Golden Age of Piracy, it sets the stage for a chaotic and ruthless era of pirates, warring factions, powerful organizations and empires all vying for power in the untamed paradise of the Indian Ocean.

Each journey in the Skull And Bones universe will be unique. Players can expand their empire by joining forces with up to 2 other friends or players they encounter out at sea. For additional challenge, they can enable PVP and test their iron against aspiring kingpins, powerful organizations, local factions, or even rival pirates. 

Building on an ambitious, multi-year post-launch plan, the game will be regularly updated with new content, activities, stories and challenges that will be free for all players. 

Ubisoft revealed the full potential of Skull And Bones on PC.

Players with the hardware to support it can take advantage of 4K HDR and uncapped framerates as they sail across the Indian Ocean during the Golden Age of Piracy, and can get a panoramic view with Skull and Bones' support for widescreen and multi-monitor setups.

Skull and Bones also supports image upscaling with ray tracing, DLSS, FSR, and XeSS, and lets players fully customize advanced input settings to suit their control preferences. Ubisoft has revealed online plans for the game as well; Skull and Bones will feature dedicated physical as well as cloud servers across multiple continents, ensuring smooth connectivity even during high activity spikes.

Although players can sail through the dangerous seas of Skull And Bones alone, it is best experienced with up to two other friends or players encountered.

To ensure an entertaining online experience, Skull And Bones provides:  

• Player tooling: A balanced matchmaking system to hop into Skull And Bones world.  Players will be placed into servers based on their Infamy level and PvP preference. Players can also report or block others for disruptive behavior in the game 
• Game servers: Powerful physical servers with modular redundancy and cloud servers complement one another during spikes of high activity to limit wait times. Ubisoft dedicated server sites in North and South America, Europe, Asia, South Africa, and Oceania 
• Anti-cheat solutions: BattlEye monitors the game in real-time. It permanently bans players on the first offense if any cheats have been deployed and detected to gain an unfair advantage

During matchmaking, players will be able to set custom PvP and PvE preferences, get matched with players at similar Infamy levels, and be able to play alongside friends (regardless of Infamy). BattlEye and VMProtect will help weed out cheaters and hackers, and players will be able to report disruptive players, ban them from joining their games, or block communication from them entirely.

The Premium Edition will include "The Ballad of Bloody Bones Collection", including a range of cosmetics items for both Captain and Ships, and additional digital content, including two extra missions, a digital Art Book and Soundtrack as well as a "Smuggler Pass" Token.
