In Crown Wars: The Black Prince, the player dives into the Hundred Years' War, which embroiled several royal families in bloody conflict, with the crown of the most powerful kingdom of the West as the prize. But that is without taking a powerful Evil into account, one that can change History. A secret and diabolical organisation is sewing chaos throughout the kingdom in its quest for power.

In these troubled times, the game lets you play as a young lord from one of 4 families that have fallen out of favour, each with particular skills and its own history that is revealed as the game progresses. Guided by the mysterious alchemist Nicolas Flamel, you must restore your lands to their former glory and lead the fight against brigands, knights and the henchmen of the Order, the dark power behind the reign of terror. In order to liberate the kingdom from invasion and corrupting evil, you must recruit, equip and train squads of companions comprised of the 6 classes of soldiers available in the game. Without you, the war is lost.

You are the last hope of the Brotherhood of Light.

In the year 1356, 5 rival factions battle for the throne of the Kingdom of France. Each of them has their own set of special skills and strategies, which you will need to study and understand to ensure you come out on top.

While the Regent Charles, the son of King John II of France, held prisoner in England, controls the majority of the Kingdom with his army of French partisans, King Edward of England is intent on claiming his right to the French crown, banking on his soldiers armed with longbows and expert in long-range combat.

Meanwhile, the Duchy of Brittany can boast very tough, heavily armoured units.

The 4th faction, represented by King Charles of Navarre, is notorious for its savagery, and uses devious means such as poison to achieve its goals. Finally, neighbouring Castile relies on its advanced engineering to emerge victorious in battle.

But all this is reckoning without an even more powerful and darker force of pure Evil, skilled in the art of corruption and in the occult, which could well change the course of History itself.

Fight enemy factions and battle an evil force that has corrupted the highest echelons of power and is exploiting the conflict for its own gain through a violent and mysterious cult.

From your castle – your seat of operations – recruit, equip and train your soldiers to fight your enemies and protect the population. Build your squads to suit your needs as you set out to find the source of the Evil and thwart the malevolent plot.

Your management and diplomacy skills will be put to the test. Upgrade your castle, forge ties with other families, and manage your resources wisely.

With the world on the brink of collapse, there can only be one solution: Evil must be defeated.

Crown Wars: The Black Prince is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam) on May 23, 2024, followed by Nintendo Switch a little later.
