In Chronoscript: The Endless End, players step into the role of an editor in AD 2026 who accepts a strange assignment at a remote mountain manor. After blacking out from a mosquito bite, he awakens inside a cursed manuscript of a thousand-year tale that refuses to end. To break the cycle and bring the tale to its final chapter, players must explore the inked world, uncover hidden truths, and confront the manuscript’s corrupted denizens.
The game’s core action unfolds in a richly illustrated 2D world, while 3D elements are used for cinematic impact - appearing in cutscenes, dynamic map reveals and enemy attacks that strike from beyond the book. Brief moments even pull players into the “real” 3D world through inky rifts, but the journey always returns to the manuscript’s pages.
Chronoscript: The Endless End blends classic 2D action-adventure with fluid exploration, intense enemy encounters, and an unsettling hand-drawn style.
A thousand years of words… waiting for your final mark.
This original form of spatial expression is now for you to experience.
SHUEISHA GAMES announced that acclaimed artist Mari Shimazaki has joined Chronoscript: The Endless End as character designer, while celebrated composer Yasunori Mitsuda and members of Procyon Studio are participating in music and sound production for the game.
Mari Shimazaki, known for her work on Bayonetta 1–3 and Ōkami, is serving as Chronoscript: The Endless End's 3D character designer and character modeling director, working alongside sculptor Hiroaki Nakanishi, modeler Mikai Locko, and Bee Tribe Co., Ltd. on the game's cast of characters.
"Both the 'Editor' and the 'Vampire' are characters full of personality, with DeskWorks' attention to detail shining through in each of them," said Shimazaki. "To ensure that the 3D designs and modeling would harmonize with the 2D designs and the game itself, I focused not simply on realism, but on strongly conveying each character's individuality."
Renowned composer Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Xenogears, Xenoblade Chronicles) is leading music production alongside Procyon Studio composers Shunsuke Tsuchiya and Mariam Abounnasr, with Manami Kiyota contributing as a guest composer.
"I have long hoped to be involved in a Metroidvania title with a well-established world," said Mitsuda. "Thinking through how to build music that would stay close to Chronoscript: The Endless End's unique world was a tremendous amount of fun."
Key Features:
