Next time you sign into Xbox Live, you'll be prompted to update, which improves support for HD video output over VGA, including 1080p resolution, improves plug and play performance for wired headsets when being used with wireless controllers, and changes made to recently played games list to improve accuracy.

Black Element Software announced that its single-player oriented sci-fi FPS has gone gold (thanks NoFrag). At its core is a story written by the foremost Czech Sci-fi author Ondrej Neff. Game play will be a varied balance of combat and more technical activities such as hacking and remotely controlling robotic devices.

The 2006 MediaWise Video and Computer Game Report Card confirms that the nation's leading retailers are enforcing computer and video game ratings by refusing to sell games rated "Mature" by the ESRB to persons under age 17, unlike the small stores who according to the study are way less proactive.

A job recruitement announcement on Ubisoft's website reveals that a sequel to Red Steel might be in the works as its Paris studio is looking for an experienced game designer to assist in the development of Red Steel sequel. This revelation might have been premature as Ubisoft updated the recruitement page and quickly removed the Red Steel reference. Oddly enough the qualification also requires multiplayer and RPG experience. Whether the new title is Wii exclusive or multiplatform is not mentioned.

Delays for European Wii Launch Titles

While Europe will finally see the first Nintendo Wii units appear in stores on December 8, gamers might have fewer games to choose from as anticipated. Ubisoft is delaying 3 titles, Splinter Cell Double Agent (Dec. 14), Far Cry: Vengeance (Dec. 21) and Blazing Angels : Squadrons of WWII (Dec. 31), while one of the strongest North American launch titles, Atlus' Trauma Center: The Second Opinion, is getting pushed back to Spring 2007, due to localization issues.
