'Gears of War' (X360) Blows a German Gasket

Gears of War will not be released in Germany, due to the ratings board refusing to assign a rating to the game. Microsoft considered developing a version that could obtain a rating and therefore be eligible for store placement and advertisement; however, this would have been incompatible with other versions when playing on Xbox Live, so the idea was scrapped altogether. As the title won't be seeing a release in Germany, interested gamers will have to import their copies from the UK or Austria (thanks Ve3D).

After two days of sales, Gothic III and Gothic III Collector's Edition are sitting pretty atop Germany's media Control Charts, placing first and second, respectively. More than 100,000 copies were sold in the first weekend, making Gothic III the most successful game of the year in Germany. On the UK sales charts, Gothic III placed 4th.
