American McGee's Grimm, an episodic videogame on GameTap, offers gamers the chance to create darkness across traditionally lighter fairy tales. And now Grimm, the game's macabre dwarf who wreaks havoc on these fairy-tale tableaus, will be unleashed in a new comic book series scheduled to become available April 2009.

American McGee, known for American McGee's Alice, revealed that, apart from working on the "Grimm" project, his China-based Spicy Horse studio has just started working on a second project. While details were not provided, it was revealed that it will be powered by Epic's Unreal Engine 3 and be a "multi-platform, twisted tale project." An update on "Grimm" indicates the title is at the halfway point, with 12 of 24 episodes finished.

American McGee's Grimm is a story-driven action-adventure game. The game combines familiar exploration and questing conventions with a thematically inspired fighting mechanic based on the notion that “words are weapons”.

The July issue of PC Gamer has the first details on American McGee's next project. An action/adventure spread over 24 episodes, American McGee's Grimm Tales, developed by his own studio Spicy Horse, will hopefully wash the bad taste of Bad Day L.A. and Scrapland out of our mouths and give us another taste of the twisted mind we got to ejoy in American McGee's Alice. Scheduled for early 2008, Grimm Tales will revisit various fairy tales we all know from our youth, and American McGee has once again teamed up with R.J. Berg, executive Producer and head writer on Alice.

Through a job recruitment announcement, American McGee revealed he has opened a new development studio in Shanghai and is currently working on its first title, an episodic game set in a dark, fairy tale universe. Sarah Michelle Gellar is attached to star in a feature version of the Electronic Arts video game "American McGee's Alice," which is itself based on Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland" novels.

The relationship between Jerry Bruckheimer and video game creator American McGee grew even closer with the news that McGee will write the script for the film adaptation of his video game "Oz." Bruckheimer has the option for a trilogy of Walt Disney Co. films based on the property, which is a prequel to the classic L. Frank Baum book "The Wizard of Oz."

Enlight announced today a partnership with gaming visionary American McGee. Founder of the independent game design and consulting firm TMIEC, McGee has signed on to be Enlight's creative director. Praised for his unique design talents by publications ranging from PC Gamer to Rolling Stone, American McGee developed Alice, a darker gothic version of the Lewis Carroll children's tale Alice in Wonderland and American McGee's Oz, a film trilogy currently being developed by Disney Films and Jerry Bruckheimer.

Video game creator American McGee, who most recently brought a twisted retelling of "Alice in Wonderland" to gamers, has turned his imagination on The Wizard of Oz, says The Hollywood Reporter. Jerry Bruckheimer Films and Walt Disney Pictures have optioned the movie rights already, and other media deals are either signed or pending. There's no time frame for the first film of what will be a trilogy, McGee said, but screenwriters Kevin and Dan Hageman are attached. McGee said games, books and other projects featuring his unique vision of "Oz" also are being developed (thanks ComingSoon).

Carbon 6 has announced its first project 'American McGee's Oz'.. American McGee puts his signature touch on another classic children's tale. This time the Lands of Oz are visited in a prequel adventure to the original books that will take you on a colorful journey through a unique world filled with dozens of interesting characters and stories. "Oz offers a diverse world and large range of characters to explore and meet." said American from his Hollywood design studio, "I'm really excited to be working with such rich material and amazing technology." Oz is being produced for the Microsoft Xbox and PC and is scheduled for release some time in 2004. The Oz soundtrack is being produced by Media Ventures. A line of Oz toys will be hitting store shelves soon. A book and film deal are to be announced.
