In keeping with its aggressive stance against cheating in World of Warcraft, Blizzard banned over 114,000 accounts in Europe in the month of April. The banned accounts were taking part in activities that violate the game's Terms of Use, including using third-party programs to farm gold and items, which severely impacts the economy of a realm and the overall game enjoyment for all players.

Blizzard, in cooperation with First National Bank, are now offering a
World of Warcraft VISA card, allowing you to spend money and earn credits toward your monthly WoW subscription fee. For each dollar you spend you will get 1% ($0.01) of it credited to your $14.99 monthly charges through a point system. The card is still a regular credit card, so charges apply, and the plastic will feature graphics from the game.

Blizzard announced that it will co-host special midnight signing events at 4 retail locations in California, and Europe to commemorate the release of WoW: The Burning Crusade. Blizzard announced that recent hardware upgrades and retrofits might allow them to begin testing the ability to go longer than a week between maintenance periods. Instead regular maintenance tasks will run during off-peak with realms live, starting Dec. 26. Off-peak rolling restarts might be needed if necessary; however the downtime for each realm would be less than 10 minutes if it was required.
