Valve announced today that DoD: Source is nearing completion and will be available before end of the month. An exact release date is not finalized yet, but people will be able to preload the game one week before its official launch. Day of Defeat: Source will be available as an individual purchase via Steam, as well as part of the Counter-Strike: Source retail package that will be available at stores around the same time. Back in June we reported that the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals would hear oral arguments in the Blizzard v. BnetD case, and now the verdict is in. In a 3-0 decision, the court upheld a trial judge's ruling from October, concluding the programmers' circumvention in this case constitutes infringement. The defendants in the case reverse-engineered the Blizzard protocol using tools to listen to the software's communications with a game server, and circumvent Blizzard's, amongst other things, anti-piracy server Battle.net. Neocron developer Reakktor.com announced today that it is developing a free upgrade for its futuristic cyberpunk MMORPG Neocron 2. The upgrade called Neocron Evolution 2.1 will contain a sizeable graphics package updating i.e. the complete vegetation of the game world and weapon models. There will also be major changes to the game engine, with improvements to areas like shadows, physics and collisions. The upgrade will be released in quarter 4 2005.

The latest Famitsu issue has word that Capcom is working on an all new Ghouls'N Ghosts title for the PSP. After its disappointing run on the PS2, the developers are turning their back on the 3d version and going for a retro 2D look, where the franchise has all its success. Extreme Ghouls 'n Ghosts will not be a port, but an all new, original, product. No release date has been announced.
