RPGDOT that, while not announced yet, Strategy First has created an official forum for Jagged Alliance 3. This is either a very big mistake, or an early indication that we may soon expect news about another sequel to Sir Tech's turn based strategy game. Strategy First did buy the JA license a few months back, and with E3 around the corner, it wouldnt be too much of a stretch. More details to follow shortly...

The July issue of
Computer Gaming World magazine will have the first information about Digital Illusions-Electronic Arts' BattleField 2 (working title). The game isn't a direct follow-up to Battlefield 1942 or Battlefield: Vietnam. Instead, it jumps forward to the world of modern warfare. The sequel will feature the latest in modern small arms, heavy weapons, and fighting vehicles -- M-4 carbines with IR scopes; M-60 machineguns with steadying bipods; M-1 tanks with reactive countermeasures; and of course, much more (

NFS-Planet has a transcript of a community chat with EA Assistant Producer Scott Nielsen in where he confirms the next NFS title will be NFS Underground 2. During the chat he revealed several details on what to expect in the sequel such as : possibility for replay and observer/spectator mode, better online/cheat security, most likely no track editor, larger amount of online slots (NFS:U only had 4), better and more realistic physics, an expanded car list, option to turn off collisions, overhaul of the chat system/interface, better damage model. More info and the first screens are expected to be released at E3.

Today Interplay released its
4th quater 2003 results and apart from the usual digits & numbers (Interplay seems to be doing better, but still has financial hurdles to overcome) the real interesting bits came during the conference call disclosing several new titles. The fact that Interplay wants to focus on console titles is no surprise, neverthless KingPin 2 is in the works, but also new titles in the long running Decent & EarthWorms Jim franchise. Most important of all, an external studio is working on Fallout 3 (although not set in the typical D&D universe due to the Atari/Interplay dispute).

Xbox.IGN is reporting that, due to lower than expected sales, European developer Southend Interactive will not be working on any sequel to the 2002 Xbox exclusive sci-fi action/sports game Deathrow. Southend Interactive is still in business though as they are working on a yet unannounced project which will be made public later this year.
