Capcom today announced a national marketing campaign to support the upcoming release of Resident Evil Outbreak for the PS2. For the first time ever, Capcom will be running an in-theater campaign where spots will run during the month of April to an estimated audience of more than 5 million movie goers. There will also be an extensive television marketing campaign, which begins on March 29th and runs throughout April, generating more than 57 million consumer impressions. These ads will support the overall marketing initiative, which includes print and online advertising, an online street team, promotional and retail partnerships, as well as several consumer launch events.

NCsoft Corporation announces plans to begin open beta testing for its soon to be released online game, Lineage II: The Chaotic Chronicle. The free open beta period will begin at 12:00 AM Pacific Standard Time on Sunday, March 28 and last approximately one month. The game is scheduled for commercial release on April 28.

PC Gamer's 10th anniversary edition has the first details and screens from Call Of Duty: United Offensive. Under development at Return to Castle Wolfenstein's Gray Matter Studios, Call Of Duty: United Offensive is the upcoming expansion pack for Infinity Ward/Activision WWII FPS. Along the lines of the the original CoD game, United Offensive will feature three single player campaigns (Battle of the Bulge for the US side, the Battle of Kursk for the Russian side and an unnamed battle for the British side) and is expected to ship this coming fall (thanks Homelan).

Electronic Arts today announced that it has signed a European distribution agreement with KOEI Co., Ltd for the upcoming tactical action game, Samurai Warriors. Samurai Warriors is developed by Koei's internal development team Omega Force, the studio behind the award-winning Dynasty Warriors series, and is planned for release on the PlayStation2 in June 2004.

NCsoft Corporation has updated beta testing plans for its highly anticipated online computer game, City of Heroes created by San Jose-based, Cryptic Studios. For the next two-and-a-half weeks, NCsoft will be inviting customers who have purchased the City of Heroes pre-order box into the beta test. All customers who have registered their pre-order box accounts will be included in the beta by April 7, 2004.

This is a response to the high number of inquires and downloads CCP has received during the last 48 hours from Earth and Beyond users. These users have been forced to look elsewhere for an alternative Science Fiction Online Game after Electronic Arts announced it would close down Earth and Beyond at the end of summer.

Crimson Tears takes place in Tokyo--50 years from now--where a biotechnology company named Weponix secretively controls the world as an underground manufacturer of war machines. Crimson Tears consists of randomly generated dungeons. In the beginning of each dungeon, the player is situated in a base where characters and equipment can be chosen. Once in the dungeon, the player must fight enemies, find items, beat the middle boss, and then return back to the base.
