GMX Media and Shockwave Productions have announced they have decided to produce a new WWII air combat game entitled, "Battle of Britain: Wings of Victory." Earlier this year, GMX Media acquired rights to the former and critically acclaimed "Rowan's Battle of Britain."

Ubisoft revealed plans today to expand its line of flight Sims through a partnership with 1C: Maddox Games. The publishing deal includes the announcement of The Battle of Britain, a brand new World War II flight simulation game, which is expected to build on the enormous success of the IL-2 Sturmovik franchise. Ubisoft also plans to publish an expansion pack for IL2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles that will let owners of Forgotten Battles take to the skies again, to engage in more World War II dogfights alone or with players around the world via the internet.

History Channel’s Battle of Britain 1940, published by Activision Value, Inc. and developed by iEntertainment Network Inc., will be including a free online dogfighting arena. This will be the first time that a flight simulation will offer a FREE massively multiplayer online gaming arena. The arena will include topographically accurate terrain of the English Channel and surrounding areas. iEntertainment Network announced today that it has signed a deal with Activision Value Publishing, Inc. (AVP) to develop AVP's The History Channel WWII: The Battle of Britain, a new single player game to North American retail outlets in October. The highly anticipated game, WWII: The Battle of Britain, includes a brand new combat terrain with over 270 miles of actual English Channel topography taken from real satellite data, over 40 historically accurate airplanes, and real flight models designed to perfectly match the flying characteristics of World War II aircraft.

As expected EA has now released the free Battle of Britain map for BattleField 1942. The objective-based map includes the German Junkers Ju88 heavy bombers and a host of British coastal defenses, including squadrons of Spitfires and the newly developed radar defense towers. The Germans must disable the RAF's coastal defense towers and the Harwich Weapons Factory for Operation Sea Lion to have a chance of success. To win, the Germans must destroy the five objectives before their ticket count hits zero, while the British must defend the objectives until the German tickets run out. The new map requires the latest v1.4 patch installed. Read more for download links ...
