Namco today announced that Arc The Lad: End of Darkness has gone gold for the PS2. The first title in the Arc The Lad series to feature real-time combat, End of Darkness allows players to engage in epic clashes in a massive and detailed game world alone or with friends, in the game's story mode or in online cooperative or competitive multiplayer modes.

Featuring an all-new real-time combat system, an expansive selection of playable characters and online gameplay for up to eight players, "Arc The Lad: End of Darkness" is planned for release on the PlayStation 2 this June.

British-based computer games firm Eidos announced the imminent return of its most famous creation and biggest money-spinner -- tomb-raiding Lara Croft. The next instalment in the adventures of the skimpily-dressed pistol-packing heroine, "Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness", will be released on June 20, Eidos said.

Eidos Interactive reports that 'Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness' will ship in April at the earliest. Eidos still belive that the game will be a hit... "(We) believe that the game will benefit substantially from the marketing of the new Lara Croft movie, Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, scheduled to be released this summer," Chief Executive Mike McGarvey said.

Now the official site is online loaded with screens, wallpapers, gameinfo, a trailer and much more. The game will be released on PlayStation 2 and PC towards the end of 2002.

Tiscali Games got the first video from Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness, next installment of well known third-person action adventure for PC & Playstation2. It contains more than 3 minutes of gameplay scenes, character animations and sketches of locations along with interesting commentary from Core Design development team about changes from previous Lara Croft adventures, enemies, inspiration or background story. The game is coming out on the PC as well as the PS2, though Smith says that the core mechanics of both versions will be exactly the same. "We have one team working on both versions of the game, but we do focus on the two different platforms separately and try to maximize the individual strengths of the PC and PS2," says Smith. "There will be little elements that will be different, but 99 percent of the game is essentially the same. Visually, they'll be close as well, but there are certain things that each machine is better at." The PC will obviously have a higher resolution, whereas the PS2 version of The Angel of Darkness will likely benefit from more precise control.
