A little while ago JoWood announced it would be bringing its biggest franchises to console, and today brings the first announcement in that regard. Having recently split with Piranha Bytes (which means no more patches btw) over the bug ridden quality of the previous Gothic titles, Jowood announced today that it is in negotiations with a major development studio for Gothic 4, scheduled for PC and consoles.

JoWood and Piranha Bytes are quietly working on a new patch for its 3D RPG Gothic 3, and previously made mention of an upcoming editor. Forum moderator
Supernova revealed that said editor might very well be included with the next update patch, but failed to give any further details as to what exactly it addresses, or, more importantly, when it might be getting released.

After two days of sales, Gothic III and Gothic III Collector's Edition are sitting pretty atop Germany's media Control Charts, placing first and second, respectively. More than 100,000 copies were sold in the first weekend, making Gothic III the most successful game of the year in Germany. On the UK sales charts, Gothic III placed 4th.

On September 12th we have shipped a Goldmaster version of Gothic 3 for replication. However, due to several problems that got known only afterwards no production has taken place, instead we decided to create another, new goldmaster. This new master is currently (Sep 21st) still being worked on! Therefore, no one has had any access to the version that will start selling on October 13th in various European territories. No testing (by external persons) of this version can have been done. All test results that have been published up to now are based on the scrapped goldmaster or in many cases on even older preview versions.

In a recent financial statement JoWooD Productions' CEO Albert Seidl revealed that an expansion pack for the just gone gold RPG Gothic III is already being worked on, "We are already looking forward to the company’s results of the third and fourth quarter of 2006. The strongest titles of this year will be released within the next few weeks. The pre-order of Gothic 3 has begun, and we expect a very promising launch of this product. We are already working on add-on packages of JoWooD’s SpellForce- and Gothic 3 series." (
