Not that this came as a surprise but Blizzard just announced that Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos is now available at retailers worldwide. With initial orders of over 4.5 million copies, the release of Warcraft III represents the biggest worldwide launch in PC-gaming history. "We're really excited that people are now able to pick up a copy of Warcraft III and start playing the complete game," stated Mike Morhaime, Blizzard Entertainment president and co-founder. "We hope players will enjoy what they see, and we look forward to hearing their thoughts about the game."

Strategy First just let us know that they have come up with a new patch for Patrician II. There are 2 seperate patches, one for the US/UK version (upgrading Patrician II to v1.1) and one for the Dutch version (updating Patrician II to v1.2). Blizzard just informed us that they have already issued the first patch for WarCraft III. This patch upgrades your WarCraft III game to v1.01 and fixes four minor game issues and a few balance changes with the characters. The game is not evne out yet and here we go already. Creative Assembly has released a playable demo of Medieval: Total War, their upcoming 3D real-time and turn-based strategy game, for download from Games Domain. The demo was previously available on the cover-disk of PC Gamer UK, which may be a more convenient way of obtaining a copy of the massive 235.3 MB file, and this Battle Tutorial demo offers eight tutorials and a single-player mission (the Battle of Jaffa) from the full game. As expected, the version 1.1.1.0 patches for Half-Life and version 1.0.0.5 patches for the retail edition of Counter-Strike are now available for download. This release includes the Ricochet mod, a new demo recording facility, additional anti-cheat measures, the new C-S map de_piranesi, and various other improvements and bug fixes. You can use the SierraUp utility (from the "Configuration->Update" menu) that was distributed with previous releases, and Steam users should be able to upgrade around this time as well. (
