Adrenaline levels are set to soar as Acclaim Entertainment announced today that the arcade racing video game Burnout 2: Point of Impact will be available on PlayStation 2 from Friday 11th October 2002. The sequel delivers an incredibly fast and high action driving experience, with vastly improved gameplay, new game options and bigger, better and more insane crash carnage.

Westwood has released a new patch for their FPS, Command & Conquer: Renegade. The v1.034 patch mainly fixes some server issues (click here for details). An updated Win32 server is also available for download from 3Dgamers.

As expected the demo version of No One Lives Forever 2: A Spy in H.A.R.M.'s Way has been released and can be found on FilePlanet (registration required) and also at Gigex. The demo is a 158 MB download, and according to plan, offers "four levels total from three of the game's 15 chapters. Fileplanet is now offering the eagerly awaited Heroes of Might and Magic IV multiplayer (via network or TCP/IP) patch, nearly six months after the initial game release of Heroes of Might and Magic IV. DreamCatcher has just released a new patch for SuperPower bringing GolemLabs world simulator game to v1.3. The patch fixes and tweaks numerous things in the game aswell as adding custom modifications from Eclzeastes (which is probably the reason why its 37mb!). NovaLogic releases the Delta Force: Black Hawk Down Official Multiplayer Demo, the demo features one multiplayer level and includes day and night settings. The demo is playable over the NovaWorld Games Network and via LAN. The 60 MB file is available on this NovaLogic Downloads Page which has a list of mirrors. Or grab it directly off 3DGamers.

UPDATE NovaLogic sends word that there is an updated version of the Delta Force Black Hawk Down Demo available that removes the NetQuartz ezpad technology that's been causing problems. Update 11 can be apply by clicking the "update game" button. Word is "once this update has installed, consumers will then be able to uninstall the ezpad technology and play with the demo as normal. To fully uninstall ezpad, right click on the ezpad icon on the task bar, and select quit, then uninstall the software via the ADD/REMOVE Programs option in the control panel."

3DGamers tossed up a playable demo of Conflict: Desert Storm, the new squad-based tactical shooter by Pivotal Games. The demo contains an intro video and one full single-player mission. You find it HERE!

The game is not out yet but nonetheless Electronic Arts sends along a patch for the full version of Battlefield 1942, shipping to stores and expected end of this week. This v1.1 patch brings the same changes and fixes as the multiplayer demo update, including support for the All Seeing Eye server browser, higher refresh rates, internal server browser improvements, bug fixes, and more. Additionally, the v1.1 Win32 dedicated server for the full game is now available, allowing server administrators to host all 16 maps in all gameplay modes. Shrapnel Games is now offering a playable demo of the new tactical war game from the creatures of Brigade Combat Team, Armored Task Force. The game represents a whole new approach to wargaming as they "have modeled the entire battlefield, practically down to the bolts on the road wheels!". EA and DICE have just released the new Battlefield 1942 v1.1 demo which fixes a number of issues including the 60hz bug and support for All-Seeing-Eye amongst other things. Gigex has just put up access to downloads of a demo for Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom, BreakAway and Impressions Games' now-gold isometric strategy/building game set in China. According to Gigex, "The demo includes six tutorial missions set in the ancient Xia dynasty in medieval China, three single-player scenarios set in the Shang dynasty, and one multiplayer mission." The demo is a 130 MB download (Thanks Blues).

Shacknews today got their hands on the Project Nomads English Demo. The demo is 119 MB to download. Try out this high-flying 3D action role-playing strategy game from Radon Labs. The demo features a tutorial and the first two missions of the full game.

3DGamers today tossed up a retail patch v1.2 for IL-2 Sturmovik, upgrading the World War II combat flight sim to version 1.2. This release offers four new flyable aircraft, ten new single-player missions and six new cooperative online missions.. There is also a new patch for Grand Prix 4, bringing this Formula 1 racing simulation by Geoff Crammond and Simergy to version 4.0. This release addresses nearly two dozen gameplay and technical issues.

Battlefront.com tossed up a 60Mb Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin Demo. The demo contains two full scenarios playable by either side plus a playable tutorial and supports multiplayer gaming with hotseat or PBEM (Play by Email) or Network play via TCP/IP. For the Windows PC version the Demo is currently only available in English. For the Mac Demo, you can choose to download the demo in either English, French or German Languages.

Simon & Schuster has just released the new demo for Soldiers of Anarchy, Silver Style Entertainment's upcoming post-apocalyptic strategy game. The download weighs in at a healthy 107 MB, and requires Windows and DirectX (and probably a computer and some other stuff).
