The game’s story picks back up in Britain, c. 2024. Quinn has grown up to be a “resistance fighter” for a small community hiding in an old castle in the burnt-out English countryside. His people have been reduced to living in near-medieval conditions. There’s a pair of dragons prowling the vicinity, attacking the few remaining villages, destroying crops, and generally making life hell for the humans. The fire brigades risk their lives to put out the awful firestorms caused by the dragon attacks as they rescue the trapped or wounded survivors. The new game, Serious Sam 2, ironically now possibly referred to either factually or mistakenly by reps as Serious Sam 3, is apparently far into development and scheduled to hit in 2003, completely compatible with the Xbox's own Live multiplayer setup. Even fewer details are known of the PC version, but assumedly it is in concurrent development, since musings of that one have been around since well before the Second Encounter even hit.
'Outlaw Golf' will take golf fans through realistic and challenging simulations allowing players to spin, hook, slice and break with dexterity as they compete in tournaments, exhibitions and even play for money against outlaws and social outcasts including Doc Digler and Killer Miller, a 'released on a technicality' death row inmate. Activision, Inc. is looking for a few good console gamers with the announcement that the company's highly acclaimed first-person action game, Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix, will be migrating onto the Xbox(tm) video game system from Microsoft. The Xbox version of Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix will feature all of the over-the-top gritty action found in the PC version including visceral multiplayer combat, which will be available via Microsoft's Xbox Live. Telewest Broadband has announced ahead of the start of Microsoft's X02 event in Seville, that it is an official broadband network partner for the European launch on 14th March 2003, a year after the launch of the console in Europe. Xbox owners will need a starter kit to get going, which will retail at around £39.99. It contains an Xbox Communicator kit, subscription to the Xbox Live network, and two free online titles. Consumer beta tests of Xbox Live are set to take place with 3,000 gamers in the UK, France and Germany from 30th October, with an open beta test scheme launching on November 30th.

IWon.com let us know that Microsoft may launch services in Japan that would allow users to play some Xbox games using mobile phones, as the company seeks out ways to gain market share against its game-console rivals.
