Yakuza 3 will sport 4 fighting styles, hand-to-hand combat, one or two katanas, or wielding a huge sword. It's currently scheduled for a spring 2008 release in Japan.

The latest issue of Japanese trade magazine Famitsu confirms rumors that SEGA is working on the next installment in the Yakuza franchise. While SEGA's Yakuza featured various Hollywood celebrities doing voiceovers, it seems a full blown movie feature is also in the works. According to sources the Yakuza movie is filmed in South Korea by Artport and CJ Entertainment, directed by Takashi Miike. Currently scheduled for release in Japan March 2007, it will debut in North America somewhere during the summer, and be 1hr50min long.

Toshihiro Nagoshi and his team will greatly improve the combat system, adding more finishing and combo moves, as well as over 100 subquests and activities allowing our hero Kazuma Kiryû to play a gigolo, a club host, or spend his time playing golf and bowling.

While the rest of the world is still awaiting release of the original Yakuza, SEGA is already working on the sequel. Set one year after the events of its predecessor, in Yakuza 2 you will face the Osaka underworld and the terrible Dragon of the West, Ryûji Kôda.
