'Ballerium' Goes Open Beta

Ballerium now celebrates its 30th beta round and everybody is invited to try MMO-RTS Ballerium for free, no strings attached, no credit card required, and no ads displayed. Having gone through possibly the largest list of hurdles, including Majorem (the developer) running out of money several times, Ballerium seem to gain better appreciation from its testers now than it did before. As a result, the developers now decided to let anyone onto the servers on a fully open beta, create an account and register.

Xbox 360 goes on sale tonight at midnight, and gamers are expected to be waiting in line to get them. But, as of this morning, nearly 3,000 of the hot new game consoles are currently available for pre-sale on eBay. Over the past two weeks on eBay, nearly 9,000 Xbox 360 units have been pre-sold at an Average Sold Price of nearly $550, reflecting a frenzy of bidding. Many of the pre-sold units are bundled with game cartridges (retailing at $50-$60) and accessories.

Tripwire Interactive today announced a new World War II PC game, Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45. Tripwire will deliver its award-winning first person shooter via Steam, Valve's online content delivery system. The original Red Orchestra won Nvidia's "$1,000,000 Make Something Unreal" contest. State of Texas Sues Sony Over Music CD Spyware

The state of Texas sued Sony music label BMG under its new anti-spyware law, saying Sony's anti-piracy XCP technology used on music CDs leaves huge security holes on consumers' computers. The music CD automatically installed a copy-protection program when discs were put into a PC, to restrict the user from copying a single cd more than three times. Online webuser discovered that the application, and its subsequent removal tool, left computers wide open for virus attacks. After a storm of criticism, Sony recalled the discs last week.

Dimension Films Signs On For 'Dead or Alive' Movie Adaptation

Dimension Films has sealed a deal to acquire North American distribution rights to the vidgame-based action pic Dead or Alive by The Transporter helmer Corey Yuen, which will be shot in China starting next fall. Devon Aoki, Sarah Carter, Natassia Malthe, Matthew Marsden, Jaime Pressly, Eric Roberts and Holly Valance star in the adaptation.
