EA has released the highly anticipated first patch for DICE's Battlefield 2. This patch brings your retail game to v1.02 (eventhough it still says v1.01) and addresses the previous memory leak, an issue that caused the multiplayer browser to become unresponsive, some game controls were not available to be rebound within the Options menu, fixed a crash with rebinding LMB, AI becoming unresponsive, and a few graphical tweaks. Blizzard has released yet another new Warcraft III map, this time called "Dust Storm"... Map info: "These barren wastes hold nothing for the living, harboring only the bones of those who have fallen to the sun bleached land. The dusty earth thus serves as a savage battleground where armies can unleash their full might unhindered." This is a medium sized map and the suggested no. of players is 2v2 or 3v3. It is based on the "Barrens" tileset.

While Battlefield 2 is currently being plagued by user login issues, GameSpy are being investigating the matter, but as a result external stats tracking may be temporarily disabled. EA has also announced that a HOTFIX candidate for Battlefield 2 v1.01 is currently in testing, which the fix for the memory leak found in v1.01 is being tested and will soon be available. No specific release date was given, but it's not far off ...
