by Rainier on Sept. 1, 2015 @ 11:00 a.m. PDT

FIFA 16 is the latest installment in the soccer franchise adding new features such 12 Women's National Teams for the first time in franchise history.

FIFA 16 innovates across the entire pitch to deliver a balanced, authentic, and exciting football experience that lets fans play their way, and compete at a higher level. With innovative gameplay features, FIFA 16 brings Confidence in Defending, Control in Midfield, and gives players the tools to create more Moments of Magic than ever before. Fans new to the franchise, or skilled players looking to improve their game will have a chance to Compete at a Higher Level using the all new FIFA Trainer.

Women’s National Teams from Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, England, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Sweden, and the United States of America will all represent their respective federations in several FIFA 16 game modes including Kick Off, an Offline Tournament, as well as Online Friendly Matches.

Alexi Lalas and Landon Donovan will be featured in EA SPORTS FIFA 16’s Ultimate TeamTM mode as Legends, only on Xbox 360 and Xbox One. The former United States Men’s National Team and Major League Soccer standouts will join Vitor Baia, George Best, Deco, Gennaro Gattuso, Ryan Giggs, Jari Litmanen, Alessandro Nesta, and Javier Zanetti as this year’s new additions. With the addition of this year’s Legends, the total roster features more than 60 superstars of years past.

Lalas and Donovan both spent the majority of their professional careers playing in Major League Soccer. Lalas was featured in the league’s inaugural season and went on to play eight seasons with the New England Revolution, New York MetroStars, Kanasas City Wizards, and Los Angeles Galaxy. He was also the first US player to play in Serie A, spending two seasons with Padova.

Donovan played most of his career with the LA Galaxy, after debuting in the MLS with the San Jose Earthquakes. He also spent time with Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich of the German Bundesliga, and Everton of the Barclays Premier League.

Both players made unforgettable contributions to the US Men’s National Team. Lalas led the team in the 1994 World Cup, played on home soil. Donovan was featured in three FIFA World Cups and reigns as the country’s all-time leader in international goals and assists.
