'Dirty Bomb' Gets Competitive Ecosystem With FACEIT Integration

by Rainier on Aug. 28, 2018 @ 3:12 p.m. PDT

Dirty Bomb is an Unreal Engine 3-powered free-to-play competitive/multiplayer shooter set in 2020 London during the aftermath of a mysterious disaster.

Dirty Bomb is a team-based game in which players will select from a diverse group of mercenaries, each with their own very different personalities, talents and weapons, to create specialized squads to take into the fray on a quest for riches and bragging rights.

It is 2020 and the once great city of London stands abandoned after a mysterious disaster, a dilapidated shell of its former self. After the initial evacuation, the International Crisis and Disaster Agency stepped in to clean up the mess and decontaminate the city. They failed… badly.

Now the streets of London are the playground of Private Military Companies (PMCs) who battle to control the city’s abandoned riches. After all, what’s a little radiation sickness when there’s money to be made?

Say goodbye to London, say hello to the Merc Capital of the World. Say hello to Dirty Bomb.

Starting today, Dirty Bomb players from Europe and North America will be able to compete in Hubs on FACEIT. Recently introduced to the FACEIT platform, Hubs aim to bring competitive communities together in a space where players can chat, compete in seasonal and special event leaderboards, and of course: Rise up and prove who the best players are.

Each region (EU and NA) will have their own Hub to ensure the best possible experience and create a space for players from their region to connect and challenge each other.

Once in-game, players will be presented with Drafting Mode which allows each player to select a single Mercenary out of a diverse roster of over 20 and allows for Captains to ban Mercs from the match. Only one of each Merc will be available per team which allows for fresh tactical choices to be played out on the battlefield. After Merc selection, the Captains pick two substitution Mercs, which all players can switch between in-game and to encourage more tactical gameplay, the matches will always have Friendly Fire on.

At the end of the match, players will be presented with the MVP lineup and a detailed stats screen. Winning matches or placing highly on the Hub Leaderboard will increase a player’s FACEIT Dirty Bomb skill level and will reward players with FACEIT Points, the platform’s currency which can be spent on FACEIT-themed Weapon Cards and an in-game Trinket in the FACEIT Shop

"We strive to bring the FACEIT experience to new communities. The platform offers a competitive structure like no other where the community can come together to collaborate and compete." said Michele Attisani, CBO & Co-Founder of FACEIT. "We’re also big fans of Splash Damage and the experiences they gave us through games like Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory which played a big part of my gaming career, so we're excited to be working on Dirty Bomb and utilising our technology to provide players with more ways to play.”

"As a studio, we were born out of the competitive scene and we believe that clan and tournament play are some of the best experiences you can have." said Richard Jolly, Co-Founder & CMO at Splash Damage. "Our partnership with FACEIT finally enables us to provide this same experience to all our Dirty Bomb players; through an expanded and fully integrated system and you’ll even have the chance to win prizes.”

Key Features

  • Competitive To The Core – A return to the classic FPS PC feel with frenetic run ‘n gun action and asymmetrical team-play, Dirty Bomb is built for gamers with a mouse, a keyboard and an appetite for heated competition. Casual players need not apply.
  • Your Mercs, Your Style – Choose from a wide array of larger-than-life Mercenaries. Need heavy fire-power? Pick Rhino, the mini-gun toting foul-mouthed bruiser with the firepower to match. Prefer the fleet feet of a mine dropping Merc? Proxy’s your girl. Each Merc has a variety of unique abilities and load-outs to strategically combat each game challenge and situation. So select your favourite three, form a squad, and get ready to Play Dirty!
  • There’s no “I” in Team – Although each Merc has their individual strengths, they really come into their own when working as part of a team to pull off the perfect play and clear an objective. Success in Dirty Bomb relies on working together to show your opponents the real meaning of hostile negotiations.
  • A Mercenary's Playground – Compete for riches and bragging rights in 5v5 or 8v8 multiplayer action across the game’s initial modes:
    • Objective – Complete team objectives such as escorting a moving vehicle while your opponent defends
    • Stop-Watch – It’s about teamwork and strategy in this race against time. Players take turns attacking and defending objectives while the clock counts down
  • Free-to-Win – Totally free to play and, more importantly, free to win, Dirty Bomb provides hundreds of hours of competitive multiplayer action. It’s all about playing well as a team and mastering your Mercs and their abilities, not the amount of money spent.
