'Slave Zero X' Adds Pokémon, Yakuza: Like a Dragon And God of War: Ragnarök Voice Actors To Its Lineup - Trailer

by Rainier on Feb. 23, 2023 @ 9:44 a.m. PST

Slave Zero X is a stylish 2.5D character action game set in the biopunk world of 1999's Slave Zero.

Run & Slash your way through a dystopian future in this character action game which will resonate with fans of Devil May Cry, Strider, and Guilty Gear. Slave Zero X features 2D side-scrolling action where players string together brutal combos while traversing a dangerous 2.5D world.

From the top of Megacity S1-9, the Sovereign Khan rules with fists of iron and flesh. Beneath the city’s rotting foundations, a vengeful warrior embarks on a journey to murder him. 4 years prior to the events of Slave Zero, Slave Zero X brings new life to a world where horrific, living machines known as Slaves are primed to become the latest tools of war in humanity’s long and bloody history. A secret band of warriors known as The Guardians hope to stop these biomecha from being unleashed upon the world, but one swordsman among their ranks has a different idea: use the enemy’s own weapon against them. By merging with a stolen Slave Unit Prototype, Shou will become a furious Devil in pursuit of killing a false God.

In development by Poppy Works and Ziggurat Interactive, Slave Zero X will bring a whole new experience to fans of the original game. In Slave Zero X, players will don a death-dealing biosuit and do battle against the forces of the evil SovKhan. The game will feature multiple gameplay modes, and a variety of futuristic dystopian urban levels to battle through.

This new entry in the franchise is based on the concept drawings for the 1999 Dreamcast and PC game. With a biopunk flare and H.R Giger influence, the original vision for Slave Zero couldn’t come to fruition due to budget and development time. Now, Poppyworks with Ziggurat Interactive, bring that original vision to life in this fast-paced, hard-hitting, character action game in the unforgettable dystopian world of Slave Zero X.

Publisher Ziggurat Interactive revealed that another two accomplished voice actors are lending their talents to this fast-paced, hard-hitting, biopunk action game — SungWon Cho and Anjali Kunapaneni.

SungWon Cho, known for his viral social media voice-acting videos and iconic games like God of War: Ragnarök and Yakuza: Like a Dragon, will be taking up the sword as Hercules J. Thorman, the first member of the Five Calamities. Known for his boundless capacity for brutality and a complete detachment from any sense of guilt, Thorman has relied solely on the superior technology and resources he's had at his disposal since birth. Outfitted with the MDHF-era exo-suit, Thorman’s commanding silhouette is internally outfitted with a custom biotechnical harness that prolongs life and infuses him with vigor so long as he never leaves the confines of the suit.

Anjali Kunapaneni, known for their roles in the hugely popular Tiny Tina’s Wonderland, Apex Legends, and Pokémon, joins the star-studded lineup as Ayesha, a 19-year-old thief and citizen of the Megacity. A smuggler once committed to making life in their neighborhood better by stealing supplies from the corrupt and the powerful, Ayesha's friends were arrested and tragically executed by the SovKhan’s forces four years ago. Now, Ayesha uses their skills to undermine and sabotage the SovKhan whenever possible.
