'No Rest for the Wicked' Features Offline Mode, No Microtransactions And Special Intro Price

by Rainier on March 27, 2024 @ 9:08 a.m. PDT

No Rest for the Wicked is a mature, precision Action Role-Playing Game that is poised to reinvent the genre.

No Rest for the Wicked introduces a hand-crafted world, rich in details and with an inimitable, “painting” art style. Players explore an intricate and vast island called Isola Sacra that allows them to experience verticality in a way that is unmatched in other ARPGs with spelunking depths of crypts, lush forests, and treacherous mountain passes. Each location is home to complex protagonists with their own problems, hidden treasures, ferocious creatures, and secrets to discover.

With No Rest for the Wicked’s brutal, precision-based combat system, Moon Studios is pushing the envelope on the art of combat. Fights in the game are animation-driven, direct, and tactile, allowing skilled players to combine visceral strikes and deadly moves. This innovative combat system results in a highly satisfying gameplay experience that is unique in isometric ARPGs, where skill and timing is required over simple “button-mashing.”

No Rest for the Wicked’s painterly art direction and brutal combat is complemented by a dark, mature narrative: In the year 841, a pivotal moment dawns upon the kingdom, marked by the passing of King Harol Bolein. A devastating conflict arises when a peaceful transition of power devolves into chaos. In addition to this political turmoil, a deadly plague has reemerged on the remote island of Sacra, twisting the land and its inhabitants. Players must brandish their arms in an effort to quell both the grotesque beasts and the Kingdom’s invading army throughout a turbulent atmosphere where they are pulled in every direction.

In No Rest for the Wicked’s multiplayer mode players can share their world and progress with up to three friends by their side in the campaign’s online co-op mode. Every quest, boss, and square foot of Isola Sacra is theirs to share with others…or they can simply venture off and do as they please.

For the first two weeks following the game’s Early Access launch on April 18, No Rest for the Wicked will be available at a special introductory price of $35.99 on Steam.

In addition, Private Division will partner with various streamers and content creators on an affiliate program for the game. Through these partnered content creators, No Rest for the Wicked will be available at a further $4 off the game’s special introductory price if purchased through their affiliate link, resulting in a reduced price of $31.99, available for the first two weeks from launch.

No Rest for the Wicked will normally retail for $39.99 after this initial two week period ends.

In recent social posts by Moon Studios' co-founders Thomas Mahler and Gennadiy Korol, they confirmed that No Rest for the Wicked will not feature any microtransactions. This decision underscores Moon Studios' commitment to providing players with a complete and immersive gaming experience.

Furthermore, they affirmed that 'Wicked' will cater to players' preferences by offering a seamless Single Player experience without the necessity for an online connection and without any anti-cheat software.

The game will showcase a rich Offline Mode, ensuring uninterrupted enjoyment for players across various gaming environments.

Early Access will include:

  • A rich first chapter of the narrative campaign
  • Additional quests that reveal more about the world and its inhabitants
  • Intense boss battles against plague-ridden creatures
  • A large variety of weapons, armor, skills, and crafting options
  • Gear can be upgraded, enchanted, runed and gem-ed to create your ideal character build
  • Purchasing and furnishing of a modifiable home
  • Daily and Weekly bounties and challenges
  • Replayable Cerim Crucible dungeon

“The 1.0 version of No Rest for the Wicked will be a significantly expanded version of the initial Early Access release. This version will take into account player feedback throughout its time in development, and may be different from what we already have planned. Upcoming features that will be included prior to 1.0 release include:

  • Multiplayer: 4 player co-op
  • Multiplayer: PVP
  • Expanded story content and chapters
  • Additional map regions
  • Farming
  • More weapons, armor, rare items, and gear
  • New enemies and bosses
  • Additional Crypt floors, Bounties and Challenges

Key Features:

  • Hone combat skills with a system that challenges you to be deliberate and strategic. Battle against gruesome creatures, enemy soldiers, and punishing bosses in tense, visceral combat. Feel the weight and speed of each weapon through their own move sets. Enchant armaments with runes, craft rare armor, and create bespoke character builds that fit your playstyle.
  • Discover a mature, dark narrative on the harsh shores of Isola Sacra. Cunning rulers and ferocious rebels vie for the throne – all while an ancient plague sweeps across the land, turning its inhabitants into monstrous versions of themselves.
  • Explore a painting come to life – take in the striking painterly world, meticulously built with an incredible attention to detail in a unique, ageless art style. Beauty radiates in every frame, from the dappled sunlight of the Lowland Meadows to the viscera-smeared, twisted shadows of the Nameless Pass. Each new location is home to its own people, problems, hidden treasures, and secrets to unearth.
  • Take respite in the town of Sacrament – purchase property and decorate it to make it your own. Fish on the shores, till and harvest the land for ingredients to create meals that replenish health and boost stats. Acquaint yourself with the diverse array of vendors and townsfolk and restore Sacrament to its former glory.
  • Share your world and progress with up to three friends by your side in the campaign’s online co-op mode. Every quest, boss, and square foot of Isola Sacra is theirs to share with you…or they can simply venture off and do as they please.

No Rest for the Wicked is in development and does not yet have an announced release date but is coming to Early Access on PC (Steam) on April 18, 2024, with a full release planned on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC thereafter.
