NetherRealm’s genre-defining Story Mode returns with an immersive cinematic narrative featuring unexpected twists on classic rivalries and original backstories for a wide-ranging cast of legendary fighters, including Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, Shang Tsung, Johnny Cage, and many others.

Mortal Kombat 1 will also introduce Kameo Fighters, a unique roster of partner characters that can assist during matches, creating expanded gameplay possibilities for players.

Warner Bros. Games released a new Mortal Kombat 1 gameplay trailer spotlighting Takeda Takahashi, the latest downloadable content (DLC) fighter set to join the main roster on July 23 as part of the early access period for Kombat Pack owners, followed by wide availability on July 30. Additionally, Ferra, a new DLC Kameo Fighter who can assist during matches with a range of support moves, will be available for Kombat Pack owners and standalone purchase on July 23.

Similar to his cousin Kenshi, Takeda Takahashi was raised a Yakuza. Unlike him, Takeda enjoyed this lifestyle. That's why he was chosen to end Kenshi’s crusade against his masters. The fight mortally wounded Takeda. Unwilling to let his cousin die, Kenshi rushed him to the nearest help: the Shirai Ryu. Even after Takeda was healed, Kenshi wouldn't release him. He feared that the Yakuza might kill him for failing his mission. Takeda resisted, attempting to escape repeatedly. But as the months passed, he began to appreciate the Shirai Ryu’s selfless commitment to Earthrealm, a contrast to his past lifestyle. Takeda swore to rip up Earthrealm's underworld by the roots, but he soon learns they are stronger and more tangled than he ever thought possible. In the new video, Takeda’s Shirai Ryu inspired moveset is on full display, including his ability to use serrated whips to pull and throw opponents, utilization of explosive kunai projectiles to extend combos, and mastery of teleportation to attack opponents from behind.

Additionally, Takeda and Ferra will be playable for the first time ahead of their release at the Evolution Championship Series (Evo) fighting game tournament in Las Vegas from July 19-21. This opportunity will be available exclusively for event attendees and located within the Mortal Kombat 1 booth at the Las Vegas Convention Center West Hall.
