Developer Billionworlds and publisher Daedalic Entertainment announced that Yield! Fall of Rome is charging into Steam Early Access today, and will remain so for 12-18 months.

“The game offers an introduction campaign and an always accessible in-game wiki to learn the basics. Besides that players can jump into the weekly campaign with highscores or have a randomized campaign for a faction of their choosing dynamically generated. In Multiplayer one can compete for a top spot on the leaderboard or play around with the extensive customization options vs bots or other players. The game fully supports gamepad and is playable on Steamdeck and similar devices. Since turn-based strategy games are quite hard and complex by nature, this game also has a quite steep learning curve for players not used to the genre, but still easier than a lot of the competitors”

“We have lots of ideas for new buildings, wonders, improvements, milestones, policies and units that we haven’t gotten to test yet. We’ve been considering to add crowns as a currency to be spent on upgrades and diplomacy in between campaign missions. We also know that we want each faction to stand out more and are considering to lend greater importance to their kings and adding unique buildings and improvements to each of them. Campaign design is important to us too and we hope to be able to tell the stories of more kingdoms and in greater detail than we currently do. We are also working on co-op multiplayer against the AI.
If competition is as important as we expect it to be to our players, we will consider adding a more in depth ranking system and to celebrate those ranks in game.”

• Custom games: Adjust the game to your liking - weight win conditions differently or even turn some of them off completely; give the Romans weaker or stronger presence; choose the map size from tiny to epic and decide for classic map borders or cylindrical wrapping.
• You don’t have the time?: play by cloud and give each player up to 24 hours to make their turn.
