Sony Rolls Out v2.30 PS3 Firmware Update

As promised Sony has rolled out the v2.30 PS3 system software update, not only revamping the Playstation Store, but also adding DTS-HD Master Audio and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio. Some new content has also been added: SEGA Superstars Tennis demo, Super Stardust HD Solo Add-on Pack ($4.99), Lair Dragons and Control Pack (free). Later this week Gran Turismo 5 Prologue will be available and the Metal Gear Solid Online beta will launch.

Microsoft and Bungie once more continue the fight as it has just released the next wave of Halo 3 downloadable content on Xbox Live Marketplace for 800 Microsoft Points. The 410mb Legendary Map Pack introduces three new maps to the title’s multiplayer experience, Ghost Town, Avalanche, and Blackout!

Ubisoft Acquires Its First Development Studio in India

Ubisoft announces that it has concluded an agreement with Gameloft to acquire its video game development studio based in Pune, India. The studio will initially focus on porting titles to handhelds and reinforcing Ubisoft’s testing teams. The goal is to become 200-people strong in 12 months time and to reach a team of 500 in the coming years.

'Burnout Paradise' (PS3/X360) Demo Servers Getting Shut Down

Last week EA finally revealed that it would be releasing Rock Band in Europe on May 23, but only on Xbox 360 as Microsoft scored a timed exclusive. Apart from the pricing outrage (inexplicably the bundle in twice as expensive) it turns out PS2, Wii and PS3 gamers will have to wait until August.
