SEGA's Sonic the hedgehog races towards new territory in this Bioware-created RPG, Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood. Apart from the fact that it will appear on the NDS system during 2008, little details are available at this point.

THQ and Blue Fang Games, known for the Zoo Tycoon series, announced that they have entered into a development agreement for a brand new videogame property for Wii, DS and PC, scheduled for release in fiscal 2010.

While both Microsoft and Epic Games are currently attending the Game Developers Conference 2008, GamePro is speculating that the Windows giant might be looking to acquire the Gears of War/Unreal Tournament developers for aprox $1 billion, mainly out of interest for its Unreal Engine 3. While it is pure speculation at this point, Microsoft is having its briefing Wednesday morning, where it is expected to make several announcements, and Epic on Thursday afternoon. Acquisition? Gears of War 2? New Xbox 360 version? Blu ray ? We'll find out soon?

UPDATE: Not exactly denying it, Epic's Mark Rein responded saying that if GamePro wants to speculate, they should start at $2 billion, Epic isn't that cheap.

Activision's next installment in the classic vehicular-combat franchise Vigilante 8 is coming to Xbox Live Arcade, currently licensed and developed by Isopod Labs. Vigilante 8: Arcade is a remake of the original game, featuring online play with up to eight players and a host of new content, taking full advantage of next-generation technologies.

During its briefing at GDC Wizards of the Coast revealed that it plans to bring new iterations of its Magic: The Gathering collectible card franchise to Xbox Live and PC. While no specific details were provided one of the titles is currently under development at Stainless Games, the UK studio known for Carmageddon, while a second title is being prepped over at Mind Control Software, known for SOE's PSP strategy title Field Commander.

Zuxxez's VP Dirk Hassinger revealed that Two Worlds: The Temptation does not re-used a single 3D object from the original, and that due to its many enhancements (new multiplayer netcode, new gfx & sound engine) The Temptation is not even compatible with the original, thus has to be considered a sequel, not an add-on. Two Worlds 2 just didn't sound right.

Japanese developer Sting, known for titles such as Yggdra Union and Riviera, announced its next project, Knights in the Nightmare, a gothic themed strategy RPG hybrid for the NDS.

CD Projekt announced that it has signed an investment agreement with Metropolis Software making it the majority owner. Set after the collapse of Japan's Ashikaga Shogunate, Samurai Warriors 2 chronicles the civil wars that consumed feudal Japan and the events that lead to the country's unification. While Samurai Warriors 2: XL is a standalone addon on PS2, the extra content (missions & playable characters) will also be downloadable on Xbox Live for owners of the original.

A job offering for a program manager on Microsoft's US careers website is fueling speculations that a new Xbox Live might be in the works, "We're building the games, the console interface and logic, and the server support for a totally new Live experience. Both the games and the dashboard experience will be deeply paired with dynamic server support to create a compelling, fresh scenario each time.
