While Turtle Rock Studios and Valve are showing off their forthcoming Source Engine powered survival co-op game Left 4 Dead at QuakeCon this weekend, some disappointing news came to light. Tecmo announced the impending release of three new downloadable survival modes for Ninja Gaiden Sigma. The first of the three downloadable modes will be released on the PlayStation Network on August 30, 2007 at a price of $2.99.

During QuakeCon, id Software revealed Rage, described as a mixture of 60% shooting and 40% driving. Rage is set in post-apocalyptic wasteland after a meteor hits earth and wipes out civilizations. You are tasked with helping various villages against mutants, monsters and an oppressive regime. As it's part racing, you will of course be able to upgrade and tune your vehicle. While not racing, you'll be able to explore the world, with a 20-hour single-player campaign and co-op.

Valve announced it has signed an agreement with id Software to bring id's entire portfolio of PC titles to digital content delivery platform Steam, including most Quake and Doom titles, as well as Hexen, and even Commander Keen.
