Headfirst Productions Goes Belly Up

Already dated a month ago, it seems Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth developers Headfirst Productions has gone into administration which will lead to the company being dismantled and all its assets sold. A few months back Headfirst already sold its only remaining IP, the Simon the Sorcerer license went to Silver Style, and the office space is up for sale, so there isn't much left. Several of the key developers had already left months ago, some went to Codemasters, Bioware, Eurosoft, and only a handful of people remain to finish the Call of Cthulhu port to PC.

'Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords' Demo Coming Thursday

Galactic Civilizations II takes place in the distant future, when mankind has become a space-faring civilization and must contend with other extraterrestrial powers for domination of the galaxy. The GalCiv II demo will allow you to play as the humans and to test your strength against three other races. Stardock will release a single-player demo on Thursday 12pm PST (9pm Euro time), and we will, of course, have it available on our fileserver network.

'Metal Slug Collection' (PSP) Announced

While there has been any official announcement yet, at last week's GDC SNK revealed that, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the franchise, it is bringing Metal Slug to the PSP. As the Metal Slug Collection title indicates this will not be an all new product but rather a compilation of Metal Slug 1 through 5, including Metal Slug X. Metal Slug Collection will be a port of the classic arcade titles and will feature 2 player coop.

EA will celebrate the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany with the launch of the event's only officially licensed videogame, 2006 FIFA World Cup. The videogame will ship on all platforms including X360 in April 2006 in anticipation of the real-world tournament which begins in June.

World Of Warcraft Guide Author Sues Blizzard

Brian Kopp, author of The Ultimate World of Warcraft Leveling & Gold Guide, filed a lawsuit against Blizzard, Vivendi and the ESA for attempting to stop him his guide, according to CNET. Blizzard had his eBay account blocked, twice, claiming trademark and copyright infringement issues. With his countersuit Brian is looking for monetary compensation; an injunction preventing the entities from interfering with his sales; and a judgment that his book is protected by the First Amendment and doesn't interfere with intellectual-property rights.
