Premier Press announces XGDX-Xtreme Game Developers Xpo taking place September 6-7, 2003 at the Westin Santa Clara. Formerly XGDC inaugurated in 1999 by Andre' LaMothe, CEO Xtreme Games LLC, Premier Press works in close cooperation with Mr. LaMothe to produce XGDX 2003. XGDX gives game developers, programmers and designers a forum to exchange ideas, share strategies, and learn about new game technologies. 'Space Colony' Website Launched

Computer and video game publisher Gathering, a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. and Firefly Studios today launched the official website for the upcoming personality sim builder PC title Space Colony at www.spacecolonygame.com.

Space Colony invites PC pioneers to build and establish a space colony and manage an unruly, unpredictable crew of 20 space cadets, while defending the colony from alien attacks and trying to make a profit. The official website provides information on characters, aliens, robots and buildings. A variety of screenshots and renders are available for download, as well as the E3 game trailer and Alien Horde, the first of three mini-games based on the characters of Space Colony. Space Colony is being developed by Firefly Studios, the creative force behind the million unit-selling Stronghold series, and is slated for an October release.

Nintendo Plans New Product Next Spring But Mum On Details

Nintendo Co.'s president Thursday announced plans for new products that would appeal to a broader range of game fans, saying the complexity of today's video games was scaring off consumers.

"All these complex, large-capacity games of today require enormous amount of energy and time of users," said Satoru Iwata, president of Nintendo.

"I want to release a very different product, and by next spring we'll be ready to announce the details," he said without elaborating.

NVIDIA Heats Up QuakeCon 2003

Konami of America has announced that Silent Hill 3 for the PlayStation 2 has been shipped to stores in North America. The game will include a bonus soundtrack CD featuring music from the game. In Silent Hill 3, players must guide Heather Morris through a series of eerie environments that are overrun with dozens of nasty creatures ranging from split-headed zombie dogs to horribly mutated humanoids.
