Vivendi Universal Games As New Customer For Gamebryo Technology

NDL, a developer of 3D graphics technology for the computer and video game industry, announced today that it has issued a publishing license of its Gamebryo 3D graphics engine and toolkit to Vivendi Universal Games. The agreement, which covers all major game platforms, will allow Vivendi Universal Games' development teams to create unique and compelling interactive content for the PC and video game console systems.

The game is developed on original high-tech engine The Firestarter Engine, which uses the possibilities of the latest accelerator generation GeForce3/4. Among the engine possibilities are work with outdoor and indoor areas, coloured dynamic lighting, dynamic shadows, vertex and pixel shaders, T&L, procedure textures, various classes of particle system-based effects, interactive and destructible level objects, realistic physics, high-polygonal character and monster models (up to 5000 of polygons), skeleton animation. The Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, has sent a goodwill message to London Games Week and has praised the creativity of the games industry in general. His message comes in a week when nearly every major company has confirmed their participation in the event, set to take place in Earls Court in four weeks time.

The Mayor says in his message: "Trade shows and conferences like London Games Week have a major role to play in developing industry, creating an environment where deals can be done and new ideas are generated.

Gathering Exposes The Truth Behind Space Colony's Characters

Computer and video game publisher Gathering, a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc today unveiled information about the characters in Space Colony, a people sim-city builder PC game. Space Colony invites PC pioneers to establish and build cosmic settlements and manage a dysfunctional crew of 20 characters while fighting off alien attacks and attempting to make a profit. Space Colony is slated for release in September.

Nintendo of Europe continues to warn retailers of potential legal action over the importing of Game Boy Advance titles, with the firm now targeting those selling US versions of Advance Wars 2. Earlier this year, the company issued legal threats to a number of retailers who were selling import versions of Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire ahead of the UK launch last Friday.
