Electronic Arts reveals details for NBA STREET Vol. 2, the follow-up to the hit title NBA STREET, to be released under the EA SPORTS BIG brand. NBA STREET Vol. 2 lets players bring their act to the street show and face off against the greatest basketball players of all-time on blacktop courts throughout North America. First team to "21" wins, but in NBA STREET Vol. 2, style and attitude are as important as putting the ball in the basket. Currently under development, NBA STREET Vol. 2 will be available this spring for the PlayStation2 computer entertainment system, the Nintendo GameCube and Xbox video game system from Microsoft.

The Road to Rome will focus exclusively on the largely underpublicized Italian and Sicilian campaigns of WWII. Players can choose to fight on six new maps including Operation Husky (Sicily) and the battles for Anzio and Monte Cassino. Each map comes with highly detailed environments such as Italian houses, Mediterranean trees and even the Monte Cassino Monastery. Controllable vehicles are the heart of the Battlefield 1942 experience and The Road To Rome will feature eight new vehicles in addition to the more than 30 in the original title. These include the German BF-110 and British Mosquito twin-engined fighter-bombers. Also debuting are Italian and new British and German tanks and anti-tank guns. New hand-held weapons include the Italian Breda assault rifle, British Sten SMG and bayonets on rifles...

According to this article on GameSpot, EA has cancelled the Xbox version of Battlefield 1942. The company canceled the game so the development team could focus all its efforts on the upcoming expansion for the PC version of Battlefield 1942, The Road to Rome. Battlefield 1942 is a first-person shooter in which players can fight against each other on various maps based on well-known World War II battlegrounds.

'Command & Conquer Generals' Collectable Boxes

Electronic Arts announced today that, for a limited time, it will offer a series of three collectable boxes for the retail version of Command & Conquer Generals. This highly-anticipated 3D real-time strategy game will be published by EA under the EA GAMES brand Feb. 11, 2003. The series of collectable boxes for Command & Conquer Generals will feature three images, representing each faction in the game: the United States, China, and an underground political terror organization, the Global Liberation Army. Each box front is a complete image, but when placed side-by-side, the three images form a continuous modern warfare scene. EA will distribute all three boxes in the initial printing of Command & Conquer Generals. Once those have been purchased at retail, EA will only manufacture the U.S. version of the box. Players who wish to purchase either the GLA or Chinese versions need to do so as soon as the game is released February 11 to ensure they receive a copy.
