'BioShock' Movie No Longer Directed by Gore Verbinski

The BioShock movie adaptation of 2K's action game will begin production in 2010, and John Logan (The Aviator, Star Trek: Nemesis) has written the screenplay, while BioShock creator Ken Levine is consulting. Earlier this year Pirates of The Carribean's Gore Verbinski hit a snag and the BioShock film was put on hold. Excessive budget concerns made Universal Pictures ask the involved parties to look for an alternate filming location. Due to the delay the filming now conflicts with Verbinski's next movie Rango, and while he is still going to produce, the directing has been passed on to 28 Weeks Later's Juan Carlos Fresnadillo.

Majesco Shuts Down L.A. Studio

Former Majesco Santa Monica artist Valerie Schoman revealed that Majesco has decided to shut down the Los Angeles, California-based studio. A few years back, Majesco found itself in a spat of financial trouble, but after some rigorous cutbacks and restructuring has been on the path to recovery, so it comes as a surprise to hear about the closure. The L.A. studio developed two NDS titles (one due soon) and was said to be working on its first Wii game (thanks superannuation).

'Furry Legends' (Wii) Going Multiplatform

In Furry Legends, a casual action and platform game, players take control of unique characters who are best described as a furry ball, each with its unique powers, allowing the player to roll, jump, bounce, attack and perform other various moves with their spherical character. Without going into specifics, Furry Legends developer Gamelion revealed it's coming to new platforms.

Nintendo added a VC, a NDSi, and one WiiWare titles to the Shop Channels. Nintendo owners with online access can redeem Points to download: PictureBook Games: Mr. Driller W (Wiiware), Pop+ Solo (NDSiWare), and Super Empire Strikes Back (VC).
