The New Xbox Experience will give X360 owners a new experience that is fun, social and simple to use, and puts more entertainment at their fingertips than any other device connected to the TV. Last week we reported that on the eve of the NXE rollout, Netflix revealed there would be no Columbia Pictures movies, owned by Sony, available for streaming through the Xbox 360. The holdout was due to licensing issues, which have now been resolved.

Sony has released a new v2.43 PS3 firmware update, but is specific to the Japan region, and only PS3 users there will be required to install the update. PS3 users in all other regions will not be prompted to download v2.43. However, if you manually initiate a firmware update by clicking on “System Update” under the XMB’s Settings icon, the v2.43 update will be available, regardless of where you are located, and will it will not cause any issues with your system or add any new functionality.

Last month SCEA announced a revamped PSP model with a higher quality LCD screens for better picture quality. Shortly thereafter rumors claimed that because of the enhanced screen the battery life would be shorter than the previous PSP model. Sony issued a statement saying that those rumors are incorrect, and while the new PSP screen draws a little more power, its engineers worked to reduce the power consumption of the overall system to even things out.

As promised, Sony has released the latest v2.36 PS3 firmware update, improving system stability when playing certain PlayStation titles. At the same time Sony also made available a new firmware update for the PSP, bringing it to v4.00 and adding Google Internet search directly to the XMB interface, and the ability to change viewing speed during playback of videos stored on your Memory Stick PRO Duo.
