Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy The Lord of the Rings: War of the Ring (War of the Ring) has been completed. In War of the Ring, massive battles erupt as the Men, Elves, Dwarves, and Hobbits of Middle-earth battle Sauron's minions. Players can choose to play as the forces of good and valiantly fight for the One Ring's destruction or assume command of the forces of evil to claim control over Middle-earth forever.

Electronic Arts announced today the North American release of The Lord of the Rings, The Two Towers video game for the PlayStation2 computer entertainment system and revealed plans to bring this highly-anticipated title to the Xbox video game system from Microsoft and Nintendo GameCube later this year. The Nintendo Game Boy Advance version will ship on Tuesday, November 12.

Vivendi Universal Publishing announced today several new games as part of its Games division's long-term agreement with Tolkien Enterprises to develop interactive entertainment based on J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit." EA’s first The Lord of the Rings action/adventure game will take players through the roles of the key action heroes from New Line Cinema’s epic film trilogy. As Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas, players will battle Orcs and memorable movie monsters, with other members of the Fellowship taking a very active role during gameplay.

The Fellowship of the Ring is an Xbox title slated for release in fourth quarter 2002 and is being developed by Seattle-based WXP, Inc. The game is a third-person action title in which gamers play as three members of the fellowship, Frodo, Aragorn and Gandalf, on a journey from the Shire to the depths of Moria and all the way to the River Anduin. Electronic Arts officially announced that they have signed an exclusive deal with New Line Cinema to create games based on the upcoming The Lord of the Rings movies.

Meudon, December 10th 2001: Universal Interactive, a studio from Vivendi-Universal Publishing, will publish games based on J.R.R. Tolkien's worldwide best-selling saga "The Lord of the Rings," the company announced today.
