After the demise of the Triton digital distribution system, Take 2/3D Realms announced it would be looking into alternatives, and they seem to has found one. Valve announced today that Prey will be available Thursday, November 30 on Steam for $49.95. Previous purchasers of the retail or downloaded editions of Prey can activate a copy on Steam at no cost by using their existing product key.

It seems that Blizzard isn't the only one who drops the ban hammer, as Valve's new Anti-Cheat technology caught a few people cheating in Counter-Strike: Source and other games this week – over 10,000. VAC detects anyone using cheat software and permanently bans his or her Steam account. Valve expects to see a surge of forum posts laying blame squarely at the feet of "my little brother."

Valve revealed that it is working on several a few updates, the first coming in about 2 weeks, to move the core Counter-Strike gameplay forward. First off, the classic Train map is getting a HDR makeover, some minor layout changes, and a number of small bugfixes. The radar is getting reworked which will result in gameplay adjustments such as when you look at an enemy for a certain amount of time his name will become visible to you, and the rest of your team.
