Microsoft's theme for E3 2006 was to show off all of its big titles in playable form, and when it comes down to big titles, they don't get any bigger than Gears of War. Last year, we got an early look at one of the single-player levels, but this year, we got to see a much more complete version of the single-player mode. We also got the chance to go hands-on with one of the multiplayer modes.

Mark "RumDragon" Bolin: Gears of War is probably what will convince me to finally buy an Xbox 360. The concentration on teamwork by the developers is impressive, and hopefully, it will play out well. From the trailers I've seen, the world looks immersive, and the A.I. seems rather brutal. The ability to use cover just about anywhere also looks quite interesting. I can't wait to get my hands on this stellar-looking shooter; I need only to find one of my friends with a lot of free time to sit

The Inquirer is reporting that at a recent NVIDIA press event in Paris, Epic's Mark Rein revealed that Gears of War will not be a Xbox 360 launch title, saying that it's taking its time as it wants to do the great game with great graphics for the Xbox 360. In an interview with EuroGamer, Microsoft's J. Allard confirmed that Epic's X360 launch title Gears of War will also be coming to the PC, "Gears Of War will be on both platforms, but it might be on one before the other. That's a little bit more of a game time decision. It's Xbox and PC."
