After 2 months, 1.4 million mod profile visitors and 8,000 different voters,
the 2004 Golden Spanner Mod of the Year Awards have been decided, by the visitors and gamers who know best. As expected, Half-Life based mods polled well, although mods from over 10 other games also finished up top, a testament to the talent out there.
Head to the feature and read up on the top three mods from all gameplay styles (action, adventure, racing, etc.) and also the top three mods for each design area (best models, textures, maps, etc.)

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic received a prestigious BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) award last night in London. The award, the British equivalent to the Oscars, named Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic as the Xbox Game of the Year for 2003. In the U.S., Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was recently announced as a finalist in 10 categories in the 7th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards, with nominations including "Overall Game of the Year" and "Outstanding Achievement/Innovation in Computer Gaming."

Vivendi Universal Games announced today that Hunter: The Reckoning Wayward for the PS2 has shipped to retail. This fast-paced hack n' slash game marks the introduction of the gothic fantasy world of Hunter: The Reckoning based on White Wolf's pen and paper RPG, to the platform. With one of five playable Hunters, gamers will battle hordes of monsters with an arsenal of deadly weapons. High Voltage Software has developed several features that provide Hunter: The Reckoning Wayward a unique game-play experience from previous games from the franchise, including a Hub based portal system and two-player cooperative mode.
