After 2 months, 1.4 million mod profile visitors and 8,000 different voters, the 2004 Golden Spanner Mod of the Year Awards have been decided, by the visitors and gamers who know best. As expected, Half-Life based mods polled well, although mods from over 10 other games also finished up top, a testament to the talent out there. BioWare Corp. was awarded the prestigious title of “Game Developer of the Year” at the Billboard 2004 Digital Entertainment Awards Gala on November 5, 2004. The award is given to the developer showing the best body of work distributed on any platform or combination of platforms over the last year.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic received a prestigious BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) award last night in London. The award, the British equivalent to the Oscars, named Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic as the Xbox Game of the Year for 2003.
