Answering the call from thousands of its die-hard Madden NFL Football video game enthusiasts Electronic Arts today announced the creation of the EA SPORTS Madden Challenge, a nationwide, 10-city Tournament to decide the best player of the world's top-selling football video game. Winners from each of the ten Regional Tournaments will be flown to the new Beaches Boscobel Resort & Golf Club in Ocho Rios, Jamaica for the Madden Challenge Finals. The ultimate winner will be invited to attend the famed EA SPORTS Madden Bowl, held every year during Super Bowl week, in San Diego, California.

Football season officially starts today with the launch of Madden NFL 2003 from Electronic Arts, the best-selling football videogame. The ship date was moved up a day due to the high demand from consumers. Available on six platforms, the PlayStation2 computer entertainment system, Nintendo GameCube, the Xbox video game system from Microsoft, the PlayStation console, Game Boy Advance and PC, the Madden NFL Football franchise enters into its 13th year as the undisputed leader in authentic NFL football simulation. In its history, the franchise has sold more than 25 million copies including more than four million copies of Madden NFL 2002.

Marshall Faulk, the All-Pro running back from the St. Louis Rams, has reached an agreement with Electronic Arts, the world's leading interactive entertainment software company, to be the EA SPORTS spokesman for Madden NFL 2003. The number one football videogame franchise has now teamed up with what many consider to be the number one NFL football player.
