The official World Of Warcraft website has word that people who did not make it into the closed beta test will get yet another chance to try out the game before its official release date. "We are happy to announce that we will soon be accepting applicants for the World of Warcraft Open Beta Test for North America. The open phase of beta will give people a chance to enter Azeroth and play World of Warcraft before the game is released. More details will become available in the days ahead, so stay tuned."

The Australian Headquarters Training Command Army (HQTC-A) has now formally accepted TacOps 4 as meeting contract requirements for an Australian/New Zealand version of TacOps under the working title of "TacOps ANZAC (v4& v5)". This version is now available for issue to all members of the Australian and New Zealand Defence Forces. The final ANZAC version v5 will likely include enhancements that are under concurrent development for the v5 retail edition of TacOps and for the official US Marine Corps v5 edition "TacOpsMC". The v5 retail edition of TacOps will be available later this year only from Battlefront.com, and will not be available in stores.

The WarBirds team will launch the official download of the PTO theater on Wednesday, 2 April. This is the fruit of their last three months of labor, and will include a new PTO terrain, five new aircraft (and variants), two new ground vehicles, a few new or improved cockpits for existing aircraft, and a new strategic resupply system in addition to many bug fixes and other improvements.. Though the update becomes official on Wednesday, they will upload it to some mirror sites earlier in the week to give everyone a chance to grab the download prior to release. Over the past few months there has been plenty of speculation, email, and pleas for information regarding the future of the PC MechWarrior franchise, namely MechWarrior 5. Although an exceptional effort was made by an extremely creative and talented development team, we have decided not to continue the development of the project at this time. There were several factors in this decision, but most prevalent was our concern that we were not advancing the genre enough to meet and exceed our customer's expectations. Please know that this was a very difficult decision, but one we felt was in the best interests of our customers.

We deeply love the Mechwarrior franchise, and are committed to keeping it alive. Our plan is to re-invent Mechwarrior in a way that brings a fresh experience to our devoted customers and new fans alike. We would like to thank all of you for your continued support of the Mechwarrior 4 series of games, and greatly appreciate all the feedback we've received on our games.
