Activision is giving gamers an all access pass to go behind-the-scenes for its highly anticipated stealth-based, ninja action game at
the official Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven web site. The site will kick off with an exclusive cinematic trailer showcasing the game's epic storyline and heart-pounding stealth action featuring all three playable characters - Rikimaru, Ayame and Tesshu. Additionally, the site will be updated weekly and will roll out a host of other downloads and information including custom wallpaper, character and weapon features, links to the online Ninja community and news updates. Named one of GameSpy's "Most Wanted Console Games of 2003," Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven will be available at retail early next month for a suggested retail price of $49.99.

id Software and Activision announced today they are canceling the retail release of Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. Despite a strong effort from talented developers, the single player portion of the game did not progress as anticipated. Canceling the release was a difficult decision made in the best interest of the Wolfenstein franchise and fans. However, we remain excited about the progress and direction of Enemy Territory multiplayer. Over the next several months the focus of our development will be to complete the multiplayer portion of Enemy Territory and provide it as a free downloadable expansion to Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

Last week we revealed that Nokia was working on a new handheld console and today Activision, Inc. confirmed that the company plans to support Nokia's highly anticipated N-Gage platform. Activision also confirmed that it expects to work closely with Nokia on developing games that would support the platform at launch. Starting to sound exciting indeed!

Activision Inc. and Marvel Enterprises Inc. agreed to extend their superhero video game licensing agreements. Financial details weren't disclosed, but the companies said the new agreement represents the largest deal between the parties and includes improved financial terms. In a press release Wednesday, Activision said it will develop and publish video game products based on Marvel's comic book franchises Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four and Iron Man through 2009. Under the new agreement, Activision also has the option to acquire the interactive entertainment rights to develop products in conjunction with motion pictures and television series involving those characters.

Vivendi Universal has held talks with at least three potential suitors to sell its video game arm but no deal is believed to be near, according to banking sources familiar with the situation. Vivendi Universal Games has talked to Microsoft Corp., Sony Corp. and Electronic Arts Inc. about a possible acquisition, though those conversations were described by the sources as preliminary. The talks come as Vivendi Universal Entertainment, which encompasses the Franco-American conglomerate's TV, film, music, theme park and game assets, has itself been the subject of a takeover bid, with oilman Marvin Davis spearheading a deal worth about $15 billion for the unit.

Activision, Inc. announced today that the company has signed an exclusive multi-title, multi-year agreement to publish real-time PC strategy games developed by Stainless Steel Studios, creators of the critically acclaimed, best-selling PC strategy title Empire Earth. Launched in November of 2001, Empire Earth was hailed by leading industry editorial site GameSpy as " ... a new high watermark for real-time strategy fans." The game has sold a million plus units worldwide since its release.

TVG let us know that after heated rumours the publisher officially cancels the GameCube version of Rally Fusion: Race of Champions. "Rally Fusion: Race of Champions will not be appearing on the Nintendo GameCube platform as originally planned," said an Activision spokesperson. "Due to unforeseen problems in development, the release date has slipped beyond the Christmas period and we are no longer able to schedule its expected completion date. As a result, the decision has been taken not to precede any further with the project."

Activision, Inc. announced today that the company has signed world-renowned skateboarder Bob Burnquist to an exclusive multi-year video game licensing and sponsorship agreement. Burnquist will continue to appear alongside Tony Hawk in Activision O2's flagship action sports franchise, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, which was the single largest independent U.S. video game franchise during calendar 2001, according to NPD. Paradox Entertainment and Pan Vision announce that they have entered a multiple-title publishing agreement for three of Paradox's upcoming titles for Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland. The first game will be released in the third quarter. The titles in the deal are Legion, Crusader Kings and Hearts of Iron. Pan Vision published several of Paradox's previous games, among them Europa Universalis and Europa Universalis II. Paradox games have done extremely well in the nordic market, and have a firmly established customer base.
